While millionaires run for president...

When a mandatory, government provided, education qualifies you to get a middle to upper middle class job right out of high school, capitalism is working. Once those jobs are being replaced by robots, and you have to go to a college that you pay for... just to be middle class... capitalism isn't working anymore.

Those who complain about inequality are more focused on restoring the middle class than they are on the Quixotic dream of ending poverty.

1) Government will likely be AI run
2) Robots will likely be given rights
3) Humans will have access to genetic engineering by this stage

I think society will change in ways we cannot imagine.

Yeah I am talking about now. Middle class factory work has already been replaced by robots... You already have people telling us that "the key to being middle class is education" and by "education" they aren't talking about the 12 years you spend getting your government provided education... they are talking about college... The mantra that all kids need to go to college is already a reality.

If you knew anything about why we were building that ship then you would know that the new class of carriers are intended to replace the current generation of carriers which are reaching the end of the lifecycle. They need to be replaced in order to ensure Military projection power and modernization of the old class had already exceeded the ability to keep the old ships at technological par.

There are some who do suggest that Quixotic method, try reading 100 comments in Bill Gate or other billionaire's facebook without seeing one.

About those more sensible people who complains, I think restoring the middle class should mean making them "less poorer", not "more richer". I don't think anyone but mentally unstable would die by lack of his own car. But I think some are totally act as it is so.

I mean, why do anyone need aircraft carrier, tank, military projection and modernization thing. I do find it's absurd that powerful nations spend billions US dollar in arms race and figuring out better way to destroy each other while some of their own's citizen are starving.

EDIT : This is a perspective from someone who born in a country that would probably do the same thing as in WW2 in hypothetical world war.

Not die, but if you have a job that is 20 miles/32 km away from where you live and there is no public transportation there or at the time when you work then you must have a car. This situation is extremely common in the US, where the average commute is 25 mins and millions of people have hour or 90 minute commute times. They would literally lose their job without a car.

America and her way of life are always under threat. Overwhelming power ensures our security, freedom, and prosperity. Our Security and prosperity helps strengthen global security and prosperity.

I don't "take all we have for granted" at all. I fully acknowledge that we have all we have because we have had the means and the will to take it at gunpoint from the rest of the world. We still do, as evidenced by the need for such aircraft carriers.

If you find reality insulting or offensive, perhaps you need to assess whether "maintaining the American way of life" justifies what has to be done.

I honestly don't see how you can think this way.

To me relying on military power is a sign of weakness, not strength at all. Soft power, if it was at all real, would surely be more than enough.

If the American "way of life" was such a good and attractive prospect, why wouldn't everyone want it?

I find you to be insisting that any assessment of geopolitical reality that conflicts with yours to be an insult.

Putting more weapons in the hands of a nation that has demonstrably encouraged violence around the world and continues to take the path of violence to promote their own self interests does not seem like a particularly wise "path to peace."
