Whimsical names for cities

Oh yeah. Do the whole theme from the start. Playing a blue civ, I was Papa Smurf. Capital was Smurf City. Beach Boys plays whenever you go to the capital: "Oh yeah we're goin' to Smurf City/gonna have some fun" Research city: Brainy Smurf. Military city: Brawny Smurf. Worker-producing city: Smurfette. Smurfopolis, Smurfville, Smurfton, Smurf N Turf on the coast....

"Let's go smurfing now, everybodies doin' it now, come go smurfing with me!"

Don't forget the Black Smurfs.

I name my first 3 cities after myself, Christiantinople, Christiantium, and Christianbul lol.

Ever since Charlie Sheen's mental breakdown I've made a habit of naming at least one city per game New Charlie Sheensville.

Sadly, that was before the days of the "Mr. Sheen shines umpteen things clean" jingle. But Richard Briers is doing the voice over, so that's cool.

I figure that since he's sort of lost his sheen in Hollywood, Estevez might be a better choice for a city name. :D

I'll often name a city Brianville. I'll also do Paradigmchester, TMITton, Thunderfalls, and Randomistan, after Turner, because I always thought that was hilarious. Other than that, if I don't name them after diseases or medications, I'll use character's names on the telly.

Oh, I see how it is: I'm just one of many. Jezebel! :p

[Natasha Fatale is always a brilliant choice]

Mum! How are you going to hold open the gates of Hell for me if you're busy impersonating nice policemen on CFC?

But of course. I have her to thank for my name. And my dad, of course. The only sensible thing he ever did. ;)

Many offensive things. I almost always rename Aztec and Zulu cities. I als tend to name cities after fictional cities, towns and villages in other games.

Normally I only name my capital. Usually something like CAPITROPOLIS, IMPERIAPOLIS, or IMPERIAL CITY.

Sometimes I use a movie theme such as Flash Gordon or The Wizard of Oz.

Once I used the names of the villages in my school district. I should do that again.

I'm more likely to rename a ship or great general.

I used to re-name cities, when I played Civ III, after local cities. Not anymore playing BTS, but I do sometimes name my first warrior just to keep track of that unit.

I do enjoy is using the in game alias of "Slick" among others. When the AI engages in diplomacy it can be funny.

"You are more intelligent than you look, Slick."

I always rename my cities. If I'm playing one of the green civilizations, I'll often name my capital Emerald City and choose characters from the Oz books. Munchkins and Ding Dong in the east, Winkies and Wicked Witch in west, Glinda in the south, etc.

Incas get Golden Cow, Golden Fleece, Golden Banana, etc.

Holy Roman get Sacred Cow, Holy Mackerel!, Santa Claws, Holy Cow, Sacred Squid, etc.

Louis XIV gets renamed Louis Pasteur and my cities get named Influenza, Hydrophobia, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, etc.

I love offensive names, too. I once cracked a gynecology textbook and went a-naming. I thought it was pretty impressive until my wife looked over my shoulder and said "What the hell is wrong with you?!?"
