Whipping and Automatic production Questions

What is whipping? How do I use it? What do i need to have/research????

I have read so many articles on Tips, strategy and hints and see this term everywhere. I just don't understand it. So can someone please help in out in simple terms what this is and how to use it.

Also, the automatic production button, is it good? when should i use it, how should i use it. What about the Emphasis food, commerce, production buttons? When and how do I use them?????

Whipping is forum-speak for hurrying the production of units or buildings via slavery. Slavery is unlocked with the bronze working tech. The slavery button is an vertical arrow with a citizen icon directly above the automatic production button. Using automatic production button isn't as good as choosing the build order manually.
