White lines in graphics / smear on resources

Take a look at my post 206 above.

About the Intel Express? It's below requirements, and given the graphics changes in the fall patch, I wouldn't be surprised by any problems with it. If it still works at all.

Hey guys, I recently experienced the resource smear myself. It seems that the biggest problem for many folks is that laptops with HD Intel Graphics card do not allow one to update their video drive, and for me this was the big problem too. What worked for me was to simply uninstall my old driver, and then I was able to install the updated driver. Just my two cents.

I recently installed Civilization V (with the Gods and Kings expansion) on my HP G72, but when I opened up one of my games on the Steam cloud, I kept getting this graphics glitch that seems to be everywhere on the map (not sure what it's called, so I attached a picture). I thought that maybe it was something with my graphics card, so I attempted to set the video settings to either minimum or low, but I kept getting the same effect. I also did a Windows Update, but the problem still persists. Is there a setting I'm missing that can get rid of this issue? Or is there some sort of patch out there that I can install to correct the problem?

My Graphics Card: Intel (R) HD Graphics (Core i3), 1696 MB

Note: The leader screen isn't affected by this glitch (though it does seem to lag a little, but other than that, it works fine). This seems to just be a map issue. I'm also running the game in DirectX 10 & 11 mode.

The_J,
I took a look at HP's website and my graphics card is up-to-date. I also uninstalled my graphic card driver and reinstalled it, but I have the same problem. Is there anything else I could do?

Never mind. I got it to work. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. Thank you!

I just purchased brave new world and I do enjoy the game....my computer's memory, speed, RAM are all high enough to play the game...but I am still experiencing graphic issues with the game...gray patches that appear and then go away when you move the mouse across the screen...it's worse with the large maps....I have already reported this and they stated that my computer is powerful enough to handle the game...I've tried lowering the in-game graphic settings, I have used the standard map size, I have used directx 9 instead of 11...I have tried different resolution settings...nothing seems to work...the overall performance of the game is ok....but it is disappointing to buy civ 5 and have these issues and then I get the expansion pack and the same thing happens...

I just would like to know what the best game graphic settings are and is there any simple adjustments I can make to my computer that will minimize issues with the game graphics...

same old same old graphics issues......gray patches, thin white vertical lines on the screen...move the mouse across the screen and the graphics are slow to respond...tried different map sizes, # of opponents, lower graphic settings and resolution settings...nothing works....don't really want to fumble with the computer too much...already sent the dxdiag in to tech help and they stated that my computer had more than enough speed, RAM, and the video card was good...i don't know what direction to go in next....

You need to update your graphics card driver, apparently.

I just bought the game with all the expansions. I should be able to run the game according to system requirements lab:

Video Card
Recommended: 512 MB ATI 4800 series or better, 512 MB nVidia 9800 series or better
You Have: GeForce GT 635M

Features: Recommended attributes of your Video Card

Required
Pixel Shader version 5.0
Vertex Shader version 5.0
Dedicated Video RAM 512 MB

You have
Pixel Shader version 5.0
Vertex Shader version 5.0
Dedicated Video RAM 2.0 GB

This is 6 months old gaming laptop on Windows 8. I can run Skyrim on highest graphics settings. But with this game i get those lines/stretch lines on units (but not if i run the game with older version of directx with very low graphic settings). I just updated my graphics drivers (new update earlier this month) but the problem remains.

Is this game uncompatible with modern graphic cards?
