Who doesn't love to reformat?

Was forced to once due to a virus, and I loved it and hated it at the same time

See, I am too lazy to back up anything, and given the large amount of downloaded stuff on my hard drive, it really hurt having to wipe it all away. However, the cleanliness of the drive, and setting everything up just right, was very enjoyable. Plus, going on a downloading spree with all of the newfound space (this comp had an 8 MB HD) was great. If I ever get around to partitioning my drive, I'll probably wipe the OS partition once or twice a year.

Well had to do it few weeks back. W2K lost a file and it didn't want to start up. Couldn't get it running so I had to nuke c: partition. Before doing it though I transferred a whole lot of stuff to other computer and made backups. Over 20 CD's -> 14GB .

I used to enjoy formatting a great deal.

Then, 3 months ago I switched to Mandrake linux, and it's no longer necessary at all. I always have that feeling of a fresh, non-buggy OS! Especially since I can get daily updates for everything on my system...I greatly enjoy updating everything all the time.

I don't really like re-formatting. I have to sit and customize windows for an hour for it to please me, and then i have to re-install all programs i had on my system partition, Zone Alarm, McAfee, Netscape, etc.

And then it always takes me a while to get accustomed to the new format...
