I'm not too much of a history buff but for my age i'm quite good. Anyway i was just wondering what some of the communitie's favourite leader from civ 5 because of what they were like in real life , not because of their UA etc.

For me its hard between Genghis Khan, Gandhi and Harun al-Rashid. Khan used good tactics in the battlefield and his soldiers were pretty amazing, he was a great conqueror. Gandhi was also pretty awesome for obvious reasons, but i guess i have to go with Harun , partly because my dad is Iraqi and i appreciate what he did (or at least what i think he did) for the muslim world. Didn't he appreciate knowledge more than martyrdom? Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Well he never was a leader in a political sense.

He was certainly one of the great politicians, even if he never held a national office. He's my favorite for that reason.

Ghengis Kahn. I read somewhere once that is roughly a 1 in 20 chance that everyone living today can trace their lineage to him. Impressive! ;)

I have a fascination with Genghis Khan that far out weighs my interest with any of the other Civ 5 leaders, although Oda Nobunaga, Wu Zeitan, Harold Bluetooth, Ghandi, Darius 1, Alexander, Catherine the Great and Isabella of Spain are also really cool to me.

Wow, I don't know if he did or not, if that's true I could see why Civ5 would pick him as the Arabian leader. He sounds progressive.

It will always be Gandhi. The long forgotten Father of our nation.

I wish civ developers would have made Gandhi more realistic when it comes to speech

I like George Washington, and play as the US almost every game!

"First in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen."

I think that may be how it goes.

Augustus Caesar is my favorite, one of the greatest and influential leaders in history with amazing political and admistrative abilities

I love Augustus Caesar, he is my favourite, one of the greatest leaders indeed

Amazing administrative abilities, he had all controled, he had no military problem, he could expand The Holy Roman Empire as far as he could see, and then, once he reached the horizon, he could expand even more, always having his borders ensured.
Not even the Senate could go against the will, and therefore, power of Caius Iulius Caesar Augustus, every single soldier followed the will of his, ever loyal to him, just his friends could have executed him.

I don't know much about Darius, I'll have to read about him.. But I also like Napoleon :P

Willem van oranje in the future expansion Because I'm dutch

And he questioned the catholic church and their wicked ways.
He turned against the catholic church

Today I still despise the catholic church and what they have donne and stand for " the true church"

I'm still protestants and withouth willem , napoleon(for conquering and spreading french revolution ideas) and some other leaders the catholic church would still be able to say i'm wrong in netherlands

BUt If I had to pick a leader not from my country it would elizabeth She had so many troubles in her personall lives like relationships and ruling But she survived

SHe was protestant but didn't want to punish certain people because they are catholic " I will not punish my people for their beliefs. Only for their "

She olso didn't collaps when spain tried to invade england
ANd she olso helpt the dutch protestant rebels thanxs btw :p

ANd I found her so special the virgin queen ruling withouth marrying (with a other country for example )

Without running through the list, the first name that comes to mind is Napoleon, who was both an exceptional general and strong administrator, and a major influence in the development of modern Europe's political and legal systems.
