WhosWinningPopup.lua Nub needs help

So I am completely new to lua and could use some insight.

You know that pop up you get after a few turns letting you know where you stand against the AI? Well I wanted to make a mod so I could check this out when ever I please.

Mainly the Science, so I did a search for "The Mostest Literate People" and got TXT_KEY_PROGRESS_SCREEN_SCIENCE then I searched that and got WhosWinningPopup.lua. Now I am screwed cause I don't know squat about it.

Is it even possible to make a mod that does what I ask? Or anything around those lines?

I've made one. I got a thread around here somewhere about it. I haven't finished it as I'm adding more categories, but it will be soon.
