This depends what you mean by good and who's standard are you using. I believe (as stated in scripture) Noah and his family was just as sinners as anyone.
Noah was a drunkard wasn't he? Who cursed (in the magical sense) his son and his son's descendants forever for seeing his drunken nakedness laying outside his tent? Just another example of what passes for Biblical morality I guess.
Maybe or maybe not; I've known a man, in which I'm very sad to say, he was more in peace when he lost his mind than when he was in his right mind. Thus it is often very hard to tell exactly who is sane and who isn't. Everyone sees themselves sane while others insane.
The "madman" is not accountable for his own actions, he knows not what he does. Because he did not know any better and did what was right to the best of his knowledge and ability, it shall not be counted against him.
That's not fully the point; the point is that the man is undeniabely an agent of suffering (of himself and those around him), meanwhile he is fully believing that what he is doing is for the best because of his connection with god. Our mental faculties define us, and there is no good in allowing someone to be so fully deceived with such awful consequences. Mormons respect the concept of Free Agency, and this man has no Free Agency, with no hope and only harm to others.
Oh,quite the contrary. He is talking to God whether if your preference in believing him or not since being a schizoid and you being not a schizoid makes the difference.
Being serious, if that was Jesus talking to him, can someone explain why an all-loving Son of God would tell my mate to stick a screwdriver through his arm? Or punch the glass out of the window and slice his wrist on the edge?
I'm also confused why regular doses of certain drugs woiuld stop Jesus' little chats - surely they wouldn't prevent an omnipotent deity getting in touch if he was so minded?
I still prefer to think that, should Jesus exist, it wasn't really Him telling my mate to do these things, but an illness.
If you get more comfort from believing that your God is prone to advising the vulnerable to stick handtools through their limbs for fun, then that is up to you....
