GIBSON on his May 11 show: Now, it's time for "My Word." Do your duty. Make more babies...

...a story yesterday [shows] that half of the kids in this country under five years old are minorities. By far, the greatest number are Hispanic. You know what that means? Twenty-five years and the majority of the population is Hispanic.

...To put it bluntly, we need more babies. Forget about that zero population growth stuff that my poor generation was misled on. Why is this important? Because civilizations need population to survive. So far, we are doing our part here in America but Hispanics can't carry the whole load. The rest of you, get busy. Make babies, or put another way -- a slogan for our times: "procreation not recreation." That's "My Word."

Gibson is a host on FOX News.

is he saying whites need to reproduce more to ensure a dominance over hispanics

Why do I (a conservative) care? IT'S BREAKING THE LAW!

I'm not really wild about this doubling of legal immigration as a solution, but at least people doing it that way are legal, and I say welcome to them. I just don't think breaking the law should be rewarded.

Conservatives fear immigration because one racial group will outnumber another one?

If that's really the issue then, I believe the thread should be titled: Why conservatives are racists. (Which isn't true, but if that's their singular justification it sure as hell would be.)

"By far, the greatest number are Hispanic. You know what that means? Twenty-five years and the majority of the population is Hispanic."

Oh I do love the ominous tone.

Don't confuse conservatives with bigots.

As much as Pontiuth wants you to think so, he isn't. Rather, he's saying that a civilization can't survive on immigration alone; it needs natural population growth as well. (At least, that's what this sounds like: "So far, we are doing our part here in America but Hispanics can't carry the whole load.")

That's what he sounds like he's trying to say - it's no surprise that a TV anchor's words are muddled...

But seriously, Pontiuth, do you really need a quote to prove that nativism is racism? :crazyeye:

there catholic inqvisitor, you should be happy.....or do you only care for the white ones?

Don't let incidents such as this confuse you. Both a bigot and a conservative.

However one does not necessitate the other. It is simply unfortunate for those who call themselves conservatives that many bigots also call themselves conservatives.

Hey, as long as they want to learn English and keep it the de-facto official language of the nation, and embrace our customs, I couldn't care less of 75% of America were Martian, ethnically speaking.

nail on the head, goonie, nail on the head

The way those people go on, you'd think that white anglophones were indigenous to this part of the world.

From what I've learned, Hispanic people have a higher support rate of Bush in US. So why should conservatives stop immigration, legal or illegal?
Note: Bush may not be an ideal conservative, but conservatives don't have an alternative.

It only reflects poorly on the College Republicans that they would invite such a speaker; in fact, it goes a way towards proving my point about such people.
