Why is anarchy so short?

It only goes for one turn and then the civic changes, it doesn't last any longer

Spiritual isn't a big advantage because anarchy is only one turn per civic:rolleyes:

Spiritual is NO anarchy, and can be alittle bit helpful, if you need to just change civics to rush something, right away. Also sometimes it is five turns.

Sometimes five turns?

Is that on the higher difficulty level? Because right now i'm only doing settler difficulty

At least on Prince, changing mulitple civics at once will get the anarchy up to 4 or 5 turns if you change enough of 'em.

As to the usefulness of Spiritual, it is only useful if you leverage it. You won't get anything out of Aggressive if you never kill anybody, and likewise you won't get anything out of Spiritual if you don't switch civics/religion as often as possible. Having 90 revolutions per game is (theoretically) possible for a Spiritual civ, but VERY inadvisable for anybody else ;)

Styles, it depends on how many things you change at once. It also has to do with game speed.

Under marathon (the new double-epic game speed from patch 1.52), I've seen 7 turns of anarchy after changing three different categories of civics.

I think one reason is with the civic system there is more to change than in previous civ versions ( 5 categories now vs one "category" in older civ versions ) . It would be unbalanced if anarchy last as long as in civ 3 when you change the goverment - you would have 5 times more anarchy than in civ 3 ...

Hee hee. On Marathon level I changed 3 civics at once and ended up with 7 turns of Anarchy. :crazyeye:

I always thought anarchy took too long in Civ3, and being "religious" in Civ3 was too much of an advantage, I like the shorter anarchy times.
