I have been reading the discussions on this forum for about a year and I must say that I am a little troubled by the resent change in atmosphere here. Before Civ III was released everyone was cheerful and friendly. Then, all of a sudden, it seems as if many of you were overwhelmed by hatred. Almost every single one of the last couple of hundred threads simply oozes from anger, many posts are written by people who sound as if they are just about to snap.
Don´t you think it´s time to calm down a bit? Abd perhaps get some perspective on things? It´s just a computer game, remember. I know that Civ is Civ and what I just wrote could be considered blasemy, but even the Origin of Computer Gaming as we know it is still just a game.
Yes, I too know the feeling of being unable to stop playing a good game even though you are supposed to leave for work in just two hours. I too used to spend many nights addicted to the two previos Civ titles (Civ III has not been released in Sweden yet ). I too have had very high probably unrealisticly high expectations on Civ III. I too know the feeling of dissapointment that you get when high expectations aren´t completly fullfilled. But it´s still just a computer game
Many of the issues discussed on this forum seem to regard real flaws in the game, I´m not arguing with that. It does look like a patch is needed. But why can´t we disuss these topics in a more civilized manner? The guys at Firaxis have worked very hard for a long time on this game and they deserve some credit, don´t you think? After all, as I understand it, most of you who are fortunate enough to have the game actually do enjoy it big picture-wise.
My belief is, that if we are able to discuss the flaws of the game in a friendly tone, then Firaxis will be more prone to fix them in the upcoming patch. And that´s what we all want, isn´t it?

Edit: I was just trying out some options on my oldest post, to avoid confusion in ongoing discussions.
