Why no Random Map?

This has been bugging me since the second time I played this game.

Why isn't there a random map type choice (i.e. Terra/Pangea/Continents/etc/etc/random) when you start a new game?

This seems like it would be easy enough to do (if you pick random map, then any other map choices you would have go to random).

In my (limited) experience, the map type dictates the strategy you will have to pursue. I enjoy pangea myself, and I put the other options on random...ended up with two continents in my last game, it was kinda like the terra map (except the second continent was closer).

Anyone else think this is a good idea?

There might be a random map option in the custom game screen, I'm not sure. There is certainly a greater map style selection there.

I checked, there is no random map option, so my previous post was incorrect. My advice is to just randomly click one of the map options with your eyes closed, then play from there.

lol none of these came with the game box.

There isn't one included in the game however you can download a mod to give you the random option. See this thread for more information and the download itself. Very nice mod.
