Why Poland was an option,

Argh ...

Not even three days have passed since the previous "Poland thread" was closed, and here's the next one already.

Welcome to "Revenge of the Poles".

In this thread, we will learn how the great Polish nation single-handedly saved whole Europe from the muslims, saved whole Europe from communism, saved the Catholic church from weakening its faith by providing the greatest pope ever, and saved the whole human civilization by laying the groundwork for modern science in the person of a couple of scientists who, in a clever way of displaying humility, disguised their identity so well that many people are discussing whether they were actually Poles at all.

Certainly, the Poles are the greatest people this planet has ever seen. And have no fear: In the next couple of decades, they plan to save the world from the evil EU, any climatic catastrophes, democracy, and the occasional alien invasion.

Rejoice, Poland will save you.

But who will save these forums from Poland threads?

good point but Poland was a power house back then. (1600's)

By the 1600's Poland was in decline according to Wiki. It's golden age occurred during the 1500's.

I think the main reason HRE is in instead of Poland is that it maintained a large empire from at least 1000-1600 AD, whilst Poland-Lithuania only really had a large empire from 1300-1700AD and they were 2 different nations working together.

Your hopeless. I'm not stupid enough to say that. You can say poland saved Vienna from becoming muslim, or at the very least being destroyed.

That was the HRE.

I must say, I found this very amusing.
A bit of sarcasm can always improve an otherwise boring thread.

yah except Lithuania was pretty weak at the time.

BtW you gave the first real GOOD point against Poland and pro HRE in this entire forum.

Your hopeless. I'm not stupid enough to say that.

Well, someone will. The claims about saving Europe from muslims and communism have been made in other Poland threads, and there also have been claims about the church and several scientists, although I took the liberty to exaggerate those a bit. But so do the Poland-propagators, imho.

Anyway, I think this discussion had run its course way *before* the previous thread was closed, and there isn't much left to say on the subject apart from rehashing the old arguments again and again.

I also believe that any discussion about the greatness of Poland is off-topic in a subforum dedicated to BtS, and should be taken to the world history forum. Although I have to admit that your method to veil the off-topicness was quite clever. ;)

Why are you constantly trying to compare the HRE to Poland and vice versa? Both were important, both existed for a long time, both have interesting leaders and cultures. BOTH COULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN BTS!
But in the end they went with HRE for what ever reason, instead of Poland, Austria, Vietnam, etc. That's too bad, but it isn't like HRE is completely unworthy of inclusion and it isn't that this argument will make Firafix change their mind. Comparing civilizations is almost impossible. There have been lots of interesting civilizations that could have been including in BTS, sadly Poland was not chosen for the game. I can understand that it's disappointing for you guys, but what can you do about it?

quite clever? i was barely thinking at all :P

Funny how again it's the non-poles who are propagating it. i haven't seen 1 pole say something like that.

and it is on topic because it is discussing why Poland was one of the choices for BtS.

Make a lot of threads protesting?

i haven't seen any Poles here yet...

maybe i should start my own Vietnam thread... :D

Sneaky let me rephrase my self.

The truth is that Lithuania was powerful in the 1200's but after that power slowly got shifted to Poland and in the 1500's Poland was one of the most powerful nations in Europe. and yes more powerful then Lithuania. But Both had turns being the powerful one.

But Poland never was one of the choices for BTS! You just hope that in one point they were! This thread is just complete speculation and serves no purpose besides rehashing old argument and propagandizing the Polish history. It should be closed.

gah Possible choices.

Your being as stubborn as a mule...

I am not stubborn. I'm logical. Because Poland isn't in BTS, we can only conclude that it was, at the most, a possible choice for inclusion.
That the Polish might made a worthy civ to include is something that almost everybody has agreed with, what more is there to discuss.
