[NFP] Why shall we eliminate other Civs?

I wish they brought back the “Afraid” status with diplomacy they had in Civ 5. Paranoid Agendas are funny, but not enough. ...Libido Dominandi.

If I eliminate them, they can't pop up every other turn for the rest of the game to demand 4 gpt. That's usually reason enough for me.

If you start locking down multiple City-States, their Diplomatic Favor contribution is enough to counteract the penalty for capturing capitols. Just recently did a Turn 219/220 Deity DiploV with Bull Moose Teddy after taking all of Spain and Rome's cities and half of Mapuche's. The notes are in Hall of Fame.

I'm not sure I get the premise of the tbread. Is eliminating other civs actually worth caring about in the first place?
