Why there are 6 different sea depths in worldbuilder?

Ah so it won't be used for buildigs/resources or anything else?

It will be used for whatever it makes sense to use it for, why not as building or bonus requirements?
The main reasoning for adding in more water depths was to expand submarine uniqueness as a combat unit.

Hmm cool, probably it could be used to change a bit water resource generation and as new place to colonize - underwater colonies would be cool.
Also deep sea is deeper than ocean?
For me this would make more sense:
Shallow ▬ Coast
Normal ▬ Deep Coast, Sea & Deep Sea
Deep ▬ Trench & Ocean
Oceans average depth is around 4 km, and less for deep sea.

C2C already has "underwater towns" as an improvement that can only be built by a unit of the same name. I think it is limited to shallow waters to start with.

Under sea tunnels are intended to go everywhere except in the deep trenches where "bridges" will be needed.

Sea depth is also used in combat between units and these tunnels.

I don't really remember what we, the team, agreed on regarding this.
But I'm pretty sure deep sea was deeper than sea.
Perhaps this:
Shallow ▬ Coast & Sea
Normal ▬ Deep Coast, Deep Sea & Ocean
Deep ▬ Trench

We discussed it, and reached a conclusion, in a thread that I think is buried on the main C2C forum page.
