Why would anyone build the Internet?

Q: Why would anyone build the Internet?

A: Ask Al Gore why he did it!

Doesn't that look like Al Gore's picture on the icon for the Internet. I swore it was till I took a (very) close look.

I guess you could make a beeline to it...maybe I'll try this strat out!

Even a beeline to it will take a while.

However, it could be a useful strategy in a Deity level game if you can get there first. The AI tech advantage would be significantly decreased that way.

I agree with you...too bad it isn't available sooner!

It has its uses but I liked the picture for it in civ III much better.

If you don't like its effect maybe a good effect to replace it with would be +3 free technologies.

That would be a good thing to do...but I don't even know how to generate a map on this yet! LOL!

I was REALLY disappointed that the Great Engineer couldn't help build the thing faster. I got a message saying it could only build buildings, LOL

There are plenty of techs you can skip on the path to it. In my first game actually I was way ahead in some tech and way behind in others (especially military tech). I made a beeline for the internet and got all kinds of earlier techs like rifling that I had skipped which combined with techs I did have to make an instant modern military.

Internet good.

Yeah, internet is a "project". However I believe as a project you can have multiple cities work on it (I might be wrong, I only noticed this at the end of my last play session and it was late so I might not really have had two cities working on a project).
