Smoke me a kipper!
this is one such incident I know of:
On 9 May Soviet troops landed on the island and after a short fight, the German garrison (about 12,000 strong[7]) surrendered.[8] Soviet forces left the island on 5 April 1946.

The German commander even sent a message to the english commander to send one soldier in order to surrender to the english.
It is not especially grand I know, but it sure bugs the people of the island, when the rest of us celebrates the liberation on 9 May(45') when infact the country first was completely liberated on 5 April(46')
During the Cold War there even were certain rules regarding auxillary troops stationed on the island. The strategic importance of Bornholm is ofcoarse understandable, being smack in the middle of the the exit of the baltic sea.
