The Wii went on sale today, and, because of "unprecedented demand" and an "European shortage in stock" (according to DSG International), they've already sold out, even before the pre-orders were completed. I pre-ordered one over a month ago (4th of November) and I recieved an e-mail saying they ran out of stock. I heard from someone else that they may not be able to fulfill the pre-orders until the New Year, and checking the PC World website said the expected date of getting one is February.

over a mill. came here, you'd think there would be more even spreading

I heard a rumour that the demand in America for components was so high they had to divert some stock bound for Europe, thats why trying to get extra controllers, component cables etc is so hard atm. 22nd of Dec is the earliest date but mid Jan isn't unreasonable.

I finally bought one :) heh despite being sold out EVERYWHERE I was lucky enought to get one, lucky being the right word. My cousin pre-ordered one from Argos (local Catelogue store for you Yanks) and then release day came so he got the big box. With shaking hands he opened it to set it up and found............... two.

For some strange and mystical reason my cousin was blessed with two consoles whilst only being charged for one........ so it's mine now. oh yes. and it's so much fun it's just scary.

PC World finally got more stock and sent me one by DHL. It should be here in a few days.

I went onto Amazon and found they had about 4 RGB SCART cables for the Wii in stock, so I ordered one of them.
