Will automated workers move between islands if you have airports?

I have a large island, full railroaded etc.

Recently captured a second one.

Will I have to ferry all my workers over or will they head over automatically after I build a few airports?

I strongly suspect you will have to move them manually.

As far as I remember, workers and settlers (as well as artillery units, so probably all units with attack-value of zero?) cannot be air-lifted.

Workers can be airlifted, settlers cannot.

It has been my experience that my workers on "shift D" duty to clean up pollution or damage do not airlift themselves to a new landmass. They *do* zoom down roads and rails to volcano sites or damage from shelling in the middle of a war zone on the same landmass.

Air-units can be re-based immediately after production, from one island to another, by giving the air-unit-building-town a valid Rally Point (i.e. an Airfield or town) on the second island. But that's about the limit.

Automated Workers are unfortunately not clever enough to buy air-tickets...
