Will C2C be to much?

If you plan to reach the TH era and beyond, I'd recommend using a smaller map size and only max 5 AI opponents.

To reach the TH you Have to be a Builder and Diplomat, Not a war Mongerer/Conqueror. It's that simple.

Does this mean you won't fight a war or 3 along the way? No it does not. Using Lower # of AI than default Map size sets up (in Game set up screen) will decrease the chance of being pulled into a war or 3 before TH Era.

But if you destroy all the AI what is the point of getting to the TH Era anyway? There is Not enough emphasis in this Mod for any other type of Game Victory But Conquest, imhpo. There were different ways to win games years ago. Not so much anymore.

I think a distinction should be made here between reaching the Transhuman era without crashing or becoming unplayably slow, and reaching the Transhuman era without winning (or effectively winning). Also of note is whether it's just you reaching the TH era, or the rest of the world. I've reached TH without major issues multiple times by now, on Large maps (PerfectMongoose310 mapscript) with 12 starting AIs, though that's usually pruned down to 6 or so survivors by the time I'm into late Medieval. Also, the rest of the world is usually at significantly lower tech by this time, and completely incapable of resisting any actual effort on my part to (finish) conquering the world. For example, my last game, I was in mid to late Transhuman, most advanced (unmeddled with) AI was in early Industrial, and I hadn't done any expanding of any form since maybe late Renaissance to intentionally avoid formal victory.

Messing around with assorted stuff, seeing how absurdly overpopulated/productive you can make your empire, testing and bug hunting, meddling with AI nations in the form of "uplift initiatives" and "volunteer regiments", the list goes on. That said, I do agree that for experienced players, games are generally determined quite early relative to the overall tech tree. I haven't had a recent game that wasn't capable of being won by conquest by the time I reached the late Renaissance, if not earlier.
