The fact that they've made a point of having a civ unique trait, and a unique leader trait seems to imply so to me, as if the civs have been designed to be 'modular'.

I hope that extra leaders for existing civs will be added, as it will add variety to the game in one way, instead of always seeing the 'same old faces'. Also I'm sure many players would be pleased to see Lizzy, Nappy and Alex once again.

I'd like to see multiple leaders, I expect it to be something the fans missed in Civ 5.

But it's probably gonna be a while.

However, I also realised that the whole Seperation of Leader and Civilization works beautifully with MP in a game where Countries and Leader are mixed-matched.

I'm 90% sure there won't be multiple leaders and I hope it is the case, I prefer devs to put this work in more civs instead.

Well the benefit of Multiple Leaders in Civ 6 would be still a unique and fun ability for the leader, which could even include a 2nd unit or building.

In civ5 devs stated that creating leaderscreen is 3/4 of effort and cash put in the creation of civ, and I would always prefer new civ with its leader than new leader to old civ.

My conviction there won't be multiple leaders lies in the fact they never said anything about it (weird, regarding how it'd be one of major selling points and features) and not only that but stopped calling second UA "leader ability" quickly after people started interpreting this as the proof of multiple leaders.

They can do both. Sure creating the leader screen and animations requires some work but it still easier than designing a whole civ. They could easily add more leaders and more civs in a major expansion or use major expansions for new civs and dlcs in between expansions to add leaders.

yeah, the CivV leaderscreens were monstrous animated excess... (CPU and GPU wise they were the big suckers) and a lot of that was background.

it doesn't look like the same will be done here, so the effort required to do a leader would be less.

With totally unique leader traits though is it really needed? In civ 4 (and I think 3, it's hard to remember that far) it was needed because of the combinations of traits needed so many leaders so you had every permutation, and even then a couple were missing from BTS like philosophical+industrious.

I felt with the expansions in V, a lot of the new mechanics, say religion was given to the new civs in that pack, even if that choice might be unusual - Mayans with faith generation for example. India would have been a good religious choice for example and probably would have got a religion bonus had it been in vanilla.

We know that religion is in vanilla this time. However, I feel that adding new leaders to old civs gives a good chance to freshen up old civs with new play styles as expansion packs inevitably add more core mechanics.

I doubt it, but I'd sorely like to see Elizabeth I, Louis XIV, and anyone but Cleopatra...so if those happened, I would totally support multiple leaders.
