Will my older card work better?

I have a nvidia 5700LE installed just now, it's a 256mb card, but I am having so many problems with Civ 4. I have tried all the drivers I could find but nothing makes any difference. The problem I am having is the game keeps locking my computer, so I have to either hit reset or shut down holding the power button. I have installed the patch and the blue marble mod but neither have helped.

I have an old ATI Radeon 9000 series 64mb card in my cupboard. I am wondering if this would work? I really am willing to try anything.

Current specs are:

XP Pro service pack 2
AMD 2400 Athlon Xp
512mb ram
Gamesurround Fortissimo 3 sound card
nVidia 5700LE graphics card
Asus A7N8X-X motherboard
All the latest drivers installed but have tried lots of variations of drivers.

Cheers,

Tony

Can anyone help?

oo.
Hi Toney,

Your MB has onboard audio and maybe even onboard video.

Hard to tell with all the varients of your board.

It is possible that the bios has retained the onboard audio and video even tho you have both a video and audio card.

Check your bios settings to see if onboard and audio and video are disabled.

Good luck

PS you might want to post a dxdiag file too
