I tried that trick once with my wife. Didn't work.

"Honey, I got you a game for your birthday.. you won't mind if I put it on my computer as well, will you?"

Hello, couch.

The day when Civ series becomes RTS is the day I'll abandon it. Fortunately I don't see it happening... ever. :D

dont forget the internet option-simultaneous moves...if it is still there

I've heard it's there and I've seen it a few times in screen shots.

Frack yeah.

The day the developers attempt to make Civ RTS...

This is one of several items they keep refering to as "new" which existed in III.

Simultaneous moves is very common in multiplayer. It can be a pain waiting for 17 people to take turns before it's yours again

agreed.

Am I the only one who thinks RTS is dead? It's just so stale, even AOE3. It's obvious game dev's don't.

I havn't seen a good RTS since Starcraft, which is still being sold at full price on store shelves. Personally I'm rather glad it's dying out, even Starcraft, because what is the point of a strategy game if all that matters is how fast you can macro to build your rushes?

Well that's debatable, but it's how I see it.

I did love the custom maps on Starcraft however.

Be careful not to start another RTS vs TBS war - despite appearances the underground legions of TBS fans should not be underestimated. Coming to this site is like coming to the main hive. (I'm mostly a TBS'ser myself.)

$11.99 brand new is full price? I remember it being 29.99 ... heck the battlechest is $19.99 now...

I found Dawn of War to be a fun RTS with very few pretensions. It knew that the reason people played was because they wanted to blow lots of Orks to smithereens.

Having said that, TBS is my favorite genre.

the paradox games (europa universalis, hearts of iron, etc) are real time, and they are amazing. I know lots of civ players that also agree with me about those games.

Yeah they don't really fit the mold of what people consider "RTS" to be though. Like you, I love them to death but can't stand most RTS games. Give me a well done TBS any day.
