To install the Rise of Legends Demo under Windows 2000, go to the command line (DOS prompt), and from the directory you downloaded the demo type:

Rise_of_Legends_Demo.exe /a

The /a option overrides the version check. MS are a pack of pricks for forcing people to use WXP when W2K has the same kernel (as far as API compatibility is concerned).

I got it to install, but when I attempt to start the demo, I get:

"The procedure entry point AttachConsole could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."

Any ideas or info how to get by this??

Hi there,

got the same problem too, I've been looking for it on the internet everywhere and it doesn't seem to be a common problem. In my case I have the full game but i don't think it differs much from the demo. I deeply hate XP :) so i won't install it just to play a game, although RoL looks wicked, so please people who hold the holy answer :P help us !!!

Thank you very much ;)

Woooooow !!!

finally found a solution which is actually quite simple. Here I have attached a zip file containing a loader for Rise of Legends, you simply need to run the loader and Rise of Legends will be launched without a problem ;)

see you and enjoy !

wel i did like octry said , but still doesnt work , when i start the launcher from the rar , its the same error with kernel32.dll , somebody has an idea ?:p

hey fost ;)

i know i shouldn't say that but try with the original legends.exe file ...

see you !

Could you explain this a litte, please?
I've been trying to get this to work for a couple hours now to no avail.

I am installing the full game from a cd by running "setup.exe /a".
Then I tried unpacking the loader into the RoL directory and running the program.

This gets two errors. One I get whether I try with the loader or not
error: "putting away a file that wasnt touched"

The other I get only with the loader.
It's a cascade of errors about a dll that it can't locate.

As much as I feel swindled by MS and probably should take this game back,
I really want to just get it working.
I've been waiting for this game for a very long time and am really disappointed.

I figure I am doing something wrong with the way I am installing the game.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Any progress? I just bought the game thinking it would work with 2000 since they use the same kernel and I can't refund the game. So anything would be helpful as to not feel like I wasted $50...
