Hail to the King Baby -DN
Seeing the 3.19 patch up inspired me to unbury my well-used Civ4 discs for another round of it.
In loading BTS up on Wine 1.1.24 I ran into some problems during the install of the 3.19 patch. Being a little impatient for some Civ time I just booted into Windows and installed in that environment. I played there for 3 days straight. That's the longest Windows has run on my computer in 5 years. I feel a little dirty.
I need to get this running under Linux.
So in addition to installing issues, I am having trouble running 3.19 under Wine 1.1.24. Nothing about 3.19 has hit the WineAppDB yet. The issue is: with 3.19 installed I get prompted for the CD. Odd huh? I have the 100% legit-and-paid-for CD. Previously I had always removed the CD check so I could play under Linux but with 3.19 I thought that wasn't necessary (and as such there aren't "no-cd" patches available).
I'm fairly certain I could install to 3.17 and apply no cd patch and it would work - it has for me before. But before I go and miss all the patchy-goodness, is anyone else having this problem?
Yeah - I know there is some excellent "play on linux" threads on here. But it seems a little unnecessary to install that management software overhead given that I have used Wine directly and successfully up until now.
