[WIP] 160x130 Europe map.

I posted a new version. It's in the OP.

I haven't yet added the flavor text for Hungary, so they'll just show up as the Byzantines for now. I also have yet to tweak the barbarian settings and it could still use more resources, but I think you'll find this version far more playable than the last three.

Just so you guys know, the map+mod won't work with the latest patch. I think the REVDCM mod is being updated though, and once it is, I'll upload a new version.

In the meantime, anyone got any comments or criticism to make?

Whooo triple post!

I haven't forgotten about this, but it's been a stressful week. I'll probably have the new version up in a few days. Assuming anyone still plays this...

you sound like you need reassurance here it is i have been reading but really nothing to say

Very good map :)
However some of the resources should be a little more widely available
No iron or copper in North Africa at all?
I know one of the reasons Carthage expanded into Spain was its rich mineral resources but this seems a little harsh

Strange, I though I placed some iron there. In any case, I'll take another look at it. Thanks for the feedback.

Took a look in detail at a few of the starting positions and played through a little of the game
Some resources need to be spread around a little more for playability (if not realism). No horses in the Iberian peninsula or France seems odd. Too much oil off Britain's coast and it should be off Scotland, not England. Glad to see Wales got its coal though

The map is too big for a standard game with a normal amount of civs. I haven't seen the barbarians turning into new civs yet so that may help fill up the vast empty spaces

I've already added more horses in the next version. I'll take a look at England, too. Are there any other reasoureces that should be distributed more? I don't have a lot of knowledge in that area.

some friends and I are testing this mod but I think the mp portion may have OOS issues. That could just be one of us though.

So far it's a good map and even better with the revolution mod which is the first i've seen of that mod.

Generally I think its pretty good although Britain is the only country I know really well.
I'm playing a game through now and the minor civs seem to work well. I'll have to watch out and crush any that pop up near me. Asoka is beating up Louis which I don't mind as he was my main rival but I'd hate to have that happen to me.

I'd only add more resources for balance. Maybe be more generous with some resources in areas like North Africa that don't have much forest. Its realistic that Northern Europe is mostly forest in 4000BC but I'm playing the Vikings atm and chopping more than makes up for lack of stone and marble.

Are you going to rename the civs that can turn up as minor civs? I could probably help with suggestions for minor civs, their leaders and city names etc. Having the Welsh or Bretons rather than the Indians turn up would improve flavour.

yeah i payed as the greeks could'nt help but think the pelponnese penisular is small especially compared to malta an sicily

i did not notice before because usually play as carthage

I noticed there wasn't any uranium on the map. Was that intended?

No, just another example of how sloppy I am. This will be corrected in the next release.

By the way, I persoanally haven't spent much time playing this mod, which is why it's so rough around the edges. I'll try to test it out myself some more and make it more balanced.

Almost completed my first playthrough

My computer is struggling with lag by the Industrial Age but its 5 years old. A decent computer should have no problems

No coal in Scandinavia!

The minor civs worked very well in filling up the map in most areas. Western Europe is very crowded except for Spain, N. Africa is pretty empty, Asia Minor and the Middle East not quite as packed as W. Europe but less fertile land so thats fair enough, Russia is almost empty especially in the south

I'd suggest adding another starting civ in southern Russia. The Tatar Khanate in the Crimea would fit well. Founded in 1441, in 1502 they defeated the last khan of the Golden Horde, in 1571 they burned Moscow. In game terms became a vassal/ally of the ottomans in 1475. In 1783 annexed by Russia. The Mongols could represent them with just some name changes.

I'm really glad to hear that. I was worried this map might simply be too big for most computers to handle.

Oops.

Also good to hear.

I've been trying to find a way to balance Russia, this sounds like a good one. I think I'll implement it in the next release.

It has less lag than GEM on my PC. I suspect number of AIs is the difference which is why its lagging for me in the late game but was good early on.

Pleased if I helped :)

If this gets updated to support a 34 player DLL I will give it a shot, tried like this and got bored searching for people :P.
Map wise its brilliant, we just need more players...
