[WIP] 160x130 Europe map.

If this gets updated to support a 34 player DLL I will give it a shot, tried like this and got bored searching for people :P.
Map wise its brilliant, we just need more players...

It already supports 50. ;)

But now that I know I can add a few new players without killing performance, any suggestions? I'm going to add the Tatars in the next release.

numidia it's a state south of carthage because carthage is pretty lonely hopefully thats enough information. the names of citys a at the bottom the capital is cirta but that was under roman control, anyway hope they get included:D
massina is an ideal leader
tried going to britannica but had to sign in a premium account
phoenicia could be another civ tyre their capital
hiram I could be there leader

this page could help decide further civs

Yes, I'm well familiar with Numidia (the Punic wars are somthing of a specialty of mine). :) I was just thinking ht other day that Carthage could use another civ nearby, this sounds like a good one. Only trouble is, Cirtan was *really* close to Carthage. Maybe too close.

I didn't think of the Phoenicians, but those are good as well.

EDIT: Actually, browsing the EB forums just gave me an idea. How about Mauretania instead of Numidia? They were located on the west coast of Africa.

When I played this as France I completely destroyed, I rushed the Great wall with 2 workers, then just sprawled out, taking most of spain, northern italy, nearly enclosed holland and bordered germany.
While that was happening carthage built a second city, had it taken by barbarians (who spawned axeman, but because carthage has no iron, couldnt defend itself), then that barbarian city became a seperate empire which then took carthage out, only to then be taken out itself by barbarians...
same thing happened to Vikings, who were Etheopia when i found them, but then lost the only two cities it had, also happened to england, who got taken by portugal and russia who didnt exist when I found it, so I dont know.....
(story time over.)
---
So then I myself tried to add more civs to break the fog easier for the start of the game (first time trying any custom content for Civ4) and added,
Crimean Khanate - on Crimea, to fill in that area
Armenia - The people, not the country, based in central turkey
Khanate of Kazan - south of russia, north of crimean
Estonia - where estonia is, west of moscow
Kingdom of Sicily - on the island of sicily, gave it a galley instead of a scout, this was my fix to a lonely carthage
Aragon - also a fix for a poor africa, based in barcelona
Portugal - west iberia
Navarre - Between Paris and Madrid, France needs more competition when I played it as I dominated, having 20 cities before netherlands got 5
Brittany - another civ to compete with france, on its peninsula
Geneva - not a real civ, but needed something to fill in the alps, also added the lake for this civs start

Unfortunitly after fixing some of the resource gaps and adding all the custom city names it broke...

Doesnt work at all with the mod you supplied (as i intended) and I got it to work when playing as rome with normal BTS, but no custom civs showed up and half of the other civs dissapeared aswell...

Oh well, if anyone wants to tell me what I did wrong:

Its just a WBS, so throw it in the mod folder.

i think carthage should have a neighbour in africa so they can hopefully get along and kill barbs or at least fight and kill barbs and survive to be decent sized mabye a competitor

I was thinking of Mauretania Tingitana. Unless you guys think that having a neighbor slightly closer to Carthage would be a good idea.

Basically the same civ I suggestedm just 1000 years earlier. Would be fine, as long as you don't dump them in the corner and allow them to expand east and west.

The ideas for someone in modern Morocco as a starting position sounds good
Portugal sounds good to me too
I agree with adding someone on the Baltic. Lithuania is a possibility or Novgorod, a merchantile city state that was a rival to Muscovy before Russia became a state
I'd love to see Venice in a civ game
The Irish are another possibility. In the game I played Ireland was empty until the Khmer appeared there as a minor civ who made it to full civ

I don't think the problem is with the French themselves, just that a player can usually expand better than the AI does

Egypt keeps getting wiped out in my games and Carthage struggles with barbarians too
All that desert means they're never going to get rid of barbarians whereas Western and Central Europe eventually fill up with AI cities

Add sweden, finland, norway and iceland, that would make great naval battles in the north
that would make this map little bit bigger... :D

the idea is fine but i don't think it's the time the desert problem needs solving first ;)

Gave it another try as Russia. I have 9 solid cities up by 425 AD, but the max pop size is 5. :( I just got Monarchy so hopefully things will be better (this is immortal difficulty). The biggest problem is that Poland is in WHEOOHRN and I am the likely target.

The biggest problem with the map is the scarcity of resources (unfortunately, this can't be helped, because then Russia would be a powerhouse) and not enough civs for the land provided.

I agree. Besides, Iceland isn't even on the map. :p

Yeah, i don't think this map will ever be totally balanced, but I am working on making it more so.

Hi, I am using BTS 3.19(with BUG mod) and when i load this map as a scenario, only 18 civs are selectable. Also Indian, Mali and the Zulu empire appear on the Europe Map. Can you tell me how i should fix that or what mod i nead to load to have it the correct way?
Thank you in advance.
