This mod improves upon a few problems that people have complained about with Social Policies, like a lack of downsides or the use of policies in a strategy against their purpose. This mod changes all policy branches to have the same layout, 2 columns and 3 rows. That amounts to six per branch! Yes! This adds one policy per branch! Anyway, the only prerequisites of policies are the ones above them. Each column has a specific strategy attached to him, for example, one side of tradition is for OCC, and the other is for a small, 2-4 city empire. The downsides for the policies (for the most part) are for giving a distinction between the two. Example: A policy in the OCC side of Tradition is: -75% Unhappiness in the capital, -1 Happiness from Colosseums. So, the happiness if you did a OCC would cancel out the downside, but if you did a wider empire, it might not. Anyway, here is a screenshot of what I've got so far. I've finished 2 trees, Tradition and Liberty. I will keep this updated!
The Ideas I have for the sides are as follows:
Tradition Left - Good for growing 2-4 cities
Tradition Right - Good for OCC and Turtling
Liberty Left - Good for REX'ing
Liberty Right - Good for a moderately large empire, and for developing the first few cities
Honor Left - Good for an early wipe out of an empire or 2
Honor Right - Good for Barbarian killing
Piety Left - Good for spreading a religion
Piety Right - Good for getting more culture
Patronage Left - Good for securing a few city states
Patronage Right - Good for trying to win as many city states as possible
Commerce Left - Good for your navy
Commerce Right - Good for your economy
Rationalism Left - Good for developing science with a large empire
Rationalism Right - Good for developing science with a small empire
Freedom Left - Good for getting great people and cutting specialist costs
Freedom Right - Good for further growing your culture rate
Autocracy Left - Good for a very wide, low promotion army
Autocracy Right - Good for a small, elite force
Order Left - Good for a very wide empire
Order Right - Good for a moderatly sized empire
