I have a 32-bit $13 wireless card from Fry's Electronics.
To start with, it works and is simple enough and I don't notice a lack of speed or problem really.

1. Sometimes it overheats, but what does this actually do? I have never had anything bad happen due to overheating, but it's obviously nothing good.

2. When you buy a more expensive wireless card, does it 1) not overheat as much and/or 2) get more better further away signals?

I know wireless cards have the whole "8x range thing in the Sunday newspaper ads, but I thought they just take the signal from where you are. Can they actually extend out and "grab" further away signals if you buy a more expensive one?
Thanks for the help! :D :) :goodjob:

Wireless G B or A? Each has their own standard ranges, though a crap card will underperform/frequently drop signals.

I don't know what overheating does to wireless cards, but I'd assume it shortens it's lifespan, until eventually it just won't work at all?

Hmm, dont know any since mines is built right in.
