Wonder Elimination Thread

I think, in a way, The Oracle was only second because people were focussed on voting down others. It never really was a favourite at any point.

This.

Is the Oracle really the early wonder everyone is going for? Or was this the result of weighing hypotheticals?

Yeah, oracle as the second is a bit surprising. It is an early game wonder that has a huge opportunity cost meaning you could use those hammers better for infrastructure or units. Also building it is a huge risk as AIs can easily snatch it from you and all you get is a bit of gold for your effort. And even if you get it the effect is not that big. Anyway other wonders I would have liked to see higher on the list are porcelain tower and forbidden palace.

I upvoted the Oracle early in the thread, though I am surprised that it took second place. That said, I've used the Oracle either to complete the Liberty policy tree or to take the second-to-last Liberty policy right before getting another policy naturally. That nets me a Great Engineer a bit earlier than I would have otherwise got it, which lets me net another wonder. So for me, the Oracle is bit like HS if timed right.

I think that HG and GL are better generally, and I'll usually try to get most of the top 10.

I also upvoted Oracle, but that was because it was about to go out (believe it or not!) and The Great Library was, in my opinion, weaker and deserved to go before it.
