Wonder Rush

That's a good point. One weakness (of many) I have is my trading skills. I typically trade to get needed techs from Civs ahead of me on the tree, but forget to trade for gpt/luxuries from Civs behind me on the tree. The GLib certainly sets up a lot of potential trades like this, and I'll have to work that into my gameplay. Thanks for the tip!

If you sell the tech when your is build is at '1 turn to complete' you are guaranteed to get the wonder (unless something happens to your town to alter its shield income, like a riot or pollution or whatever) because you are #1 in the turn order. If you sell a tech like Music or Artistry when its wonder is already built, the AI will pay virtually nothing for it.

True, good point. The AI will use their turn to switch production to JS Bach's (for instance), and have to wait until their next turn to complete it, even if it's at "1 turn to completion". By that time your next turn has happened.

So the (low) risk is only in selling the tech when you're 2 turns or more away from completion.

The best gpt trades you make with the richest civs, and that are normally the civs in the lead.
The GLib is not so good for tech trading, because it only gives techs that the best civs already know, and the others often have next to nothing for it. It can work out differently on an island map, where you have different continents with their own trade system; a tech that is useless on 1 continent might still be worth a fortune on the other continent.
If you can now and then beat the AI to a tech you're probably better off than building the GLib. If you start alone on an island with no other coasts in sight the GLib can be a life saver, but if you can trade - need to develop some trading skills for that - than self research will give greater benefits.
