Just noticed this option on the screen setup. It was default as off, so I left it that way, and unless it seems like a good victory option, I probably will.

So, what is it? Is it part of the default game, or an option left over from Conquests? Is it standard as on, or off?

From reading the documentation, I think that it causes a win when you build a certain number of wonders. The number is set along with others in the "limit" screen: I think the default is 10. But this is just a guess; I haven't actually played with it at all.

A wonder victory is completed once all Great Wonders have been built. Once the scores are totaled the game is ended and a winner declared. No further turns come after all Wonders have been built. Think of it like a space race victory.

Thanks, Bob T. But wait, I'm confused - afer all the wonders have been built, does the person with the most wonders win, or the person with the highest score?

And is this default, or just another option?

I beat this one. If all the wonders are built, the game ends, but it is in fact true that if you have a higher score, you win the game. Having the wonders is just a big help because they definately give the most points.

Wonder Victory is a clever code name for Wonder Time Limit. If turned on then the scenario (or random map game) ends after all available Wonders have been built. The civ with the most Victory Points (if VP Scoring is turned on) or highest score (if not) then wins.

So, the Mesopotamia Conquest, for example, ends when the 7 Wonders have all been built (or after the turn limit has been reached, which is much less likely). Since that scenario has Victory Point Scoring on, the civ with the most VPs wins. Since that scenario weights Wonders very heavily for VPs, and discounts VPs for units destroyed and cities captured, chances are that the civ with the most (or most expensive) Wonders will win.
