I've just finished my grand campaign scenario, tested all the additions, they all work, I've played through several times to early Medieval just for testing, and I noticed that Wonders aren't appearing in my city queue. Scratch my beard... Then, I noticed at the very start, that the advisor tells me "the French are developing The Oracle, and next turn I check my city screen and The Oracle isn't there.

The advisor also says at other times, "Advisor informs you, that the Mongols have developed The Pyramids. I know that once it's been developed, it won't appear, but is the advisor telling me that the French are working on the Oracle, or is it telling me that they've finished it???

Seems odd, for the French to finish The Oracle by 2215 BC... And the Spanish Pyramids by 2075 BC.

Does the wonder appear as greyed out or not at all? Did you know Mysticism at that time?

One of the F button. F7 or F8 will open up the wonder screen, and you can see who's building what and where.

Hm. F7 or F8. Hm. It's something I've never tried. I keep notes by HAND, you know, like, with that paper-and-pencil technology? Thanks. I'll try it out.

But the Wonders don't appear greyed-out unless I'm building it somewhere else. If it's already been built, it doesn't appear at all. That's true for all my mods, and the vanilla, far as I recall.

What's different is that this is my first try at Monarchy level. And I noticed it the first time I played Monarch. I thought "man the AI sure gets wonders fast at Monarch..." but this time, I'm paying more attention, and it seems odd to get a wonder so fast. Is it somehow possible that the French really DO possess the wonder? Or is there some feature to Monarch level that prevents me from working on a wonder if anyone else is working on it (even before it gets completed...) sigh...

F7 shows all the wonders built or being constructed. Nothing about Monarch level that should effect wonders, all can build it, as long as you have the tech and any required materials/resource.

What can be happening is that you are now facing civs that can beat you to a given tech and get an SGL. This leader could be used to rush a wonder. Try to use CIVREPLAY to see if that happened.

I got home from work and ran it a while. Tried the F7 thing -- thx! It's a good feature, I just hadn't thought to try out all the F buttons.

What's happening is that France got the Oracle. It would show when I started from the load at an earlier date. It's not entirely surprising, I've designed the map to be extremely rich--cities get 15-20 shields per turn pretty early. I got The Practice of Slavery at 2300 BC (a Small Wonder, but it typifies the fast growth rate...)

Carry on...

FWIW and just in case: when you know the obsolete-making tech, the wonder wouldn't show up either. So if you knew theology already, the oracle wouldn't appear on the build list. You could still finish it, if you started building before theo was in.
