I started a game yesterday as the persians on a hugh continental world with 4 other civs. It turns out now, I have one continent all to my self and its loaded with diamond and gold mines.

Um... why are you telling us this? Btw, diamonds are gems, which is a luxury, and gold just gives more commerce to cities...

Yeh why are you teling us this if this was meant to be a story all be iit is a very bad one it should be put in the stories and tales part of the website unless there is some hidden question in there which we have to find out.

I like the story. Maybe you could just develop the characters a bit better.

Anyone (myself included) who posts on this thread has too much time.:smoke:

Yeah, getting continents all to yourself is good :) Gems are good to have, and gold too.

Last time I got a continent to myself early in the game, I eventually quit out of boredom. Could not find the other continent, even with the Great Lighthouse. Had only one luxury resource, so happiness limitations curtailed population growth (needless to say - current expansion was complete). Should have let one civ survive, so I could have someone to slap around until one of my galleys survived to find the new world (or maybe I was the new world - who knows).

The surprise ending threw me for a loop.

Sorry about that dthrsh, hope you have a good game! :)

To exploit these things is a kind of art. If you can build cities with good food squares near these resources without getting so far away from you capital that corruption is excessive you can eventually connect the resources next to your capital via a road. The gems will help with happiness and are good to trade, so you should work toward having a harbor somewhere.

Sorry if you already knew all that.

I don't really like starting on a continent alone. I find that I'm a long way behind everyone else in techs when I finally caught up to them (btw make sure you built great library). Try to expand quickly, switch to republic in good time (you need the extra commerce and military is not too important), you need to play a builder game style given this circumstance, just to keep up.
