Anyone know why my units defending a city would turn on my workers that were trying to enter the city? I havent had this happen for a while but was reading through the discussion groups and remembered this has happened to me a few times. Basically what happens is my workers run out of work so they try to return to their cities and when they do the military units protecting the city they are trying to enter attacks and kills them. I don't know if these are units I captured or units of my own because I didn't think to check when it happened (this may be part of the cause). To me though if they are captured units or self created units shouldn't matter, they are my workers. Anyone else seen this?

Did you play after the year 2050AD? If so I think there is a bug where the buffer over runs and gets corrupted. Check those cities that are attacking your workers and I think youll find some enemies in your city. I've found enemy battleships in my inland cities. Its happened to me where an enemy mech infantry was in my capital city and shot all my workers and any unit I tried to being into the city! At first I thought it may be some espionage thing, then I saw the enemy battleship in an inland city and figured it must be a bug.

No it was before 2050AD. I will see if I still have one of my saved games from that time and look at the city. I figured that either there was something going on in my city or that I was at war with a country and had one of their workers so my troops would not allow them in.

If you have the saved game that should work. I saved the game I had that was doing this ( hoping the save would clear it up) and it did the same thing when I reloaded it. The game I had was on a large map with many many units. I had also used nuclear weapons. I was wondering if it could be the citizens revolting against my use of nuclear weapons. But that doesn't explain the Russian battleship in my inland city :)

What patch are you using?

This happened quite a bit in the Modern Age in 1.17f (bug) but I haven't yet encountered it with 1.21f.

I actually thought Firaxis had fixed it with this version.

It is happening with the latest patch. It has only happened twice and of course I am not having any luck with finding the saved games. But I will keep on looking.

I had a similar, but maybe unrelated, thing happen in my most recent game using the 1.21f patch. It was about 1950AD and I wanted to move one of my mech infantry units to the other side of my continent to load it into a transport. As it moved adjacent to one of my own cities along the way, it attacked the city and was destroyed by the defenders (also mech infantry). "pretty weird", I thought, lets try that again. I tried to moved another mech infantry unit to the same destination and it too attacked the same city and destroyed the defending unit, which had lost some hit points in the previous skirmish.:(

Anyone else have this happen to them?
