Workers

Nope. It's best that if you have too many workers around doing nothing to join them into a city.

Score is determined by happy or content people. Settlers and workers are neither.

Just don't do the city join thing too early. Wait until after railroads, and when pollution is manageable. you can never have too many workers, especially if you aren't industrious.

When I'm doing a trade, and I see the other civ happens to have Workers available for trade, I always trade for them. They're usually pretty cheap.

I don't know why I do this- I just think it's cool. But is it practical? Does anyone else do it?

Buying workers is the best possible deal.

They come with the limit of work at half rate, but You ALSO slow down the AI improving it's territory. For abou t $25 I can speed up my land improvement, and slow down there land improvment. If this isn't a bargain, what is?

They show up at the capitial, and I often use them to start a project in another direction. A city not on the road network, and the new worker goes that way. Every little bit helps.
