The "I got pig iron" quote has to be the worst. It is just so pointless. I can tell someone just liked that song and put the quote in there.

I just wish there was a Mr. T quote. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with what they chose, there are some interesting things to think about there. Whilst I agree that something more inspirational could have been chosen, I don't think it's a terrible quote. And they're not performing a public service, it's their game, they can put whatever quotes they like for whatever reason in. If someone liked the song? Well hey, good for them. I hope more people go listen to it after becoming interested because Civ mentioned it.

Edit: Having said that, I dislike some of what the civ leaders say intensely.

soooo many qibbles like this are made fairly obsolete by being customisable. just find the quotes in the code and change em, not that i know how :P

didn't realise it was an audio quote. Just delete the particular quote? assuming there arent many that irritate you. (dunno if you find any of em annoying dida but yknow what i mean.)

Yeah, that would fit with the epic nature of civ.

I don't disagree that SOME quotes are good.

I do.

That doesn't make me like them. I hope whoever chose this quote is embarrassed. It sucks.

Yay! Now let's all hug and kiss and listen to music.

They're not performing a public service. It's their game, they can make the leaders say whatever they want for whatever reason.

The reality is that it is impossible for Firaxis to have made a 'perfect' game - one which pleases everyone. These are merely differences of opinion. Thus, I can accept that even if I dislike it a little.

Why so hostile?

I happen to love the I got pig iron nothing but pig iron, I laugh every time I here it. Many of the quotes are more along the lines of humor, and to lighten the mood, and I like them.

To each his own.

Hey the "beep...beep...beep...beep" quote is awsome!

YOu come up with something better

There are cool quotes, and there are less cool quotes. There are probably some I have filed under less cool quotes which would be cool if I could get the reference, but can't blame Firaxis for that.
The first time I heard the "beep...beep..." quote, I thought there was something wrong with the sound and the game was about to crash:rolleyes:
On the other hand, I find Nimoy's voice more and more annoying to listen to. It would almost seem they just got him to have a celebrity name appear on the game box, but I guess it's personal preference, since many seem to like him.

Overall, I liked the Alpha Centauri quotes better. They were generally longer and more deep in terms of the message they were to convey, and had (IMO) better voice actors 'Course, some of them were made up, but that didn't make them any worse.

But it's a very small issue, and it's definetely not ruining this great game for me:)

Perhaps you should have read the post I was responding to.

Congratulations on a cunning plan - open a thread asking for people's opinions, then get *****y with anyone who responds. Nice one.

Personally, the pig iron thing annoys me, and that Caesar salad joke is rather pathetic, but they're mostly not too bad - the SMAX ones were definitely better done though.

I agree that the "pig iron" quote is annoying but whatever! Firaxis chose the quotes, most (like 99%) are decent and worthy to be included and like someone else said, you only have to read them once.

Shouldn't you be thinking about other things in your current game anyway? If not, raise the difficulty level so you have to *think*. Those quotes will soon become meaningless thereafter.

I dislike that qote, mostly because its repeating itself, its repeating iself, and thats so annoying, and thats so annoying. ;) I guess its from a childrens song - well, its probably know well known outside us?

Still, I find most quotes quite amuzing, but, I still thing it would be obvious to have an option to disable to quotes (along with wondermovies and such). Not many options in civ4 right?

At least there isn't a crazy frog quote, that would really annoy you. I mean, Leonard Nimoy singing Crazy Frog tune. *Shudder*
