Nice bunch of bloodthirsty psychopaths we got for company! Met all but one AI by 1AD (Shaka, Genghis, Alex, Stalin, Monty).

By 1 AD had 7 cities, of which I founded only 2, beside the capital. The capital went on the PH 2N1W and then Orleans was founded due north west at stone/wheat/cow. Lyons got founded south at the other silver sharing some tiles with Paris. Fourth city was a barb city due east at the corn and cities 5, 6 and 7 were provided for by Shaka. Early on he settled his 2nd city too close for comfort so it was clear who'd be the first victim. His first two cities were nice ones along the river NE from the cap, the third due north at corn/iron. He only had archers and some chariots, but a reasonable amount of axes were enough to get these goodies. However, took peace when some of his chariots appeared out of nowhere next to one of the conquered cities only defended by a single axe.

Worker techs went first, then followed up to currency and literature, with CS coming within 2 turns. Only wonders built were the mids and the Heroic Epic (got a level 4 unit soon enough) in Orleans and Great Library and National Epic in Paris. From here the idea is to pursue military techs only and push the world into submission.

I went for early Bronze Working and sent a bunch of axes Shaka's way (as well as a few spears, since he had horses). I'm certain he would've done it to me at some point, so I thought I'd rather be the aggressor. The war took a little longer than I'd expected, but then again I got some nice cities and a bunch of workers. After ridding the world of Shaka, I captured a barb city in the NW with my spare axes.

I teched alpha with my spare gold and - get this - I was the first one to it. I traded it for Iron Working and Mathematics and some other stuff as well. Now I'm establishing infra in the captured cities and heading for currency which I should get in five turns. No idea if I'll go to war again; and if I do, I don't know against whom and with what units.

For once, barbs were not an issue, thanks to all my production going to military.

Hm, some really nice guys around - Nappy felt welcome

Shaka settle two nice sites north of Nappy's capital - Nappy was totally pissed because he considered this as his land. But what should he do? Axe rush ... feels a bit too risky? Swords would be nice so he teched IW - if no Iron around then HBR via Oracle.

neil, what did you do? Open the bastard list that has been floating around and picked the top 6? At least you gave us copper.

Now call me crazy, but I would like to see if jususin is going to play a culture game with this bunch.

I will write up more in depth essay later. Did you place all three culture building boosting resources on purpose and nearby to lead us astray? Evil.

It is a hostile world, as promised.

Culture should not be a huge problem, it is only Emperor after all, but don't expect any HoF-like dates. With all the warmongers the Lib race should be easy.

Paris on the PH.

Research: AH>Mining>Bronze>HBR>Hunting>Archery>Mysticism

Built Orleans N by the horses although Shaka ruined my favorite spot on the PH.

After initial worker and settler and some warriors, Paris built barracks and stable and then a never ending stream of chariots and HAs. First GG was settled in Paris giving HAs 7XP and with all the barbs coming from the south most of them got some battle training and combat III before entering the real war.

Second GG is a super medic at the front.

Shaka, Alex and Monte are history. I have killed 77 archers.

Kept all 4 of Shaka's cities (Mistake: the one in the north will probably build 2 HAs before the game is over ) and 2 of Alex's (gems and capital) and burned the rest.

Took one barb city in the north for the gold.

Upkeep is heavy, have to keep the momentum going, I guess HC is next.

Paris on PH. At 1 AD I had 6 cities, 30 pops.
At 1920 BC I founded Hindu! 1040 BC Built Oracle ->CoL. GP went gor Hindu shrine. Till 1 AD I constructed also The Parthenon and GLib. Started building Nat Epic. Time for developing has gone, now is time for war, altough I still have place for one or two cities.

I went for a peaceful opening. Settled on the PH on T1. Orleans was founded to the NE to get the FP and pigs for a future GP Farm on T35. Lyons was founded to the NW to get the copper, wheat and cows. Rheims was settled to the E to get the corn and the silver.

At this point, I noticed who my neighbors were so I decided to attack Shaka. I took his city in the jungle near the pigs and then took his capital before declaring peace.

I completed the Oracle in 675 BC and took Civil Service. Yes, it was late, but with the cast of characters in this game, I figures it was worth the late run.

Tech path was AH -> Mining -> BW -> Myst -> Writing -> Meditation -> Math -> PH -> CoL -> CS (Oracle) -> Alpha -> IW, Masonry, Poly, Pottery, Hunting (trade) -> Literature -> Fishing, Archery, Sailing (trade).

I think I'll go for Cultural just to see how long I can keep these guys off my back.
