This one is actually going to be the reverse of my usual. So the AI did not settle here, and I actually think this is a gorgeous spot...but I heard feedback from some others that they also think this is a garbage spot, so I am curious on thoughts.

My thought was to pioneer settle as Egypt southwest of the Marble. This gives you 2 deer, a marble, 4 sheep, and lots of mines. It also very defensable with the mountains. While this won't ever be the biggest city it should be incredibly productive.

What do you think? Is this worth a midgame settle?

Spoiler :

As Egypt (I'm assuming Tradition) in the mid game, probably not, unless there was another particular reason for that city. There's tons of production but so little food that the city isn't going to grow at all. You'd have to divert a food trade caravan to get it to a point where it could grow a bit and actually work mines. The enemy won't attack that city (or its attacks will just be completely ineffective). But what is that city going to do for a Tradition Egypt with 6 cities already in the mid game? Or are you Progress? If Progress, maybe. With 4 sheep and 2 deer, it might be able to get to 10 population.

If the extra marble would, with the East India Trading Company, get me the marble monopoly, I'd do it.

That's a spot for Incas!

Or if you really want it, let them settle it and build some terrace farms then get it. :-D (Admittedly it would be a slog before artillery.)

No, I wouldn't have any non-Inca settle this spot. The AI often settles too many cities and then struggles because of the increased modifier for culture&science. I'm more curious why didn't the Inca in this game settle that region with a few cities? That to me is the biggest problem in the picture.

If I am not an Inca then I will settle there only for future uranium & aluminium & coal. Or with mountains pantheon. Or If I am going for Domination victory(I am pretty sure there will be good strategic resources) and good spot for defence.
I will not settle it only If I go Culture victory...

Inca is nowhere near that place and won't get connection unless they conquer Egypt.

There won't be any aluminum on hills. Iron, coal and uranium only.

Azum4roll, the Inca are just north of Egypt and they could generate a city connection via an internal route to the new city. I'd settle at least one city there as the Inca, probably two.

I'd consider west-north-west of the marble to get marble and two diamond in border, but maybe you already have diamond monopoly.
The land is pretty bad, sheep is not good for food and even with fealty I find the tiles a bit meh, sheep on tundra hills .... no thank you.
Possibly if I had Goddess of the hunt (+food on tundra resources) , if I was Inca or if an enemy Capital was in that direction, as it is all that land is just dead space and I'd leave it as that.
Maybe I'd make one save it and see if I HAVE to settle there when I discover oil.

So here is a different example in my current game to exemplify my point.

This spot doesn't have a lot of food, only a few sheep and deer to sustain it. But with 1 ITR early on to get it going, this city has blossomed into my 2nd highest production city. It is small for sure, and it will never work specialists, but I can crank units and diplo units out of this baby, and now I'm even using it for wonder building.
