These are all official quote from games workshop or black industry books. I'll continue to look into my other books tomorrow to find more quotes.

Guys dont get bogged down in official "Warhammer" related stuff.... it just isnt worth it... if you can get a quote that fits awesome if you cant (or you find one that just doesnt quite fit) feel free to make them up just try to make it something along the "official" lines (or failing that adapt ill fitting qoutes and play with the word order)

ie:

Fanaticism:
"Innocence proves nothing. Suffer not the mutant to live. Burn the witch."
Imperial inquisition credo

Is a good quote... but we can make it more Sigmaritish:

ie:

Fanaticism:
"Innocence proves nothing, everyone is guilty of something. Suffer no guilty people to live."
Words of a Sigmarite Inquisitor burned for Heresy

now that changed it into something only a Sigmarite could say... ie. everyone is guilty so lets suffer no one to live... circular logic and mildly funny

Alchemy:

"Warpstone powder and crushed silver mixed with garlic oil, kill fast-fast"
_From the book of recipe of Rikkit'tik, Eshin clan "Scholar".

Chronicals:

"- 1500. We writte down the name of the clans who fell during the time of woes. Dwarves of the clans of the fire swords, hammer-strike and black beards will no longer walk in the mountains. We will never forget them."

_Kurgan "Saga of Kharnat", Liber Chaotica

Gifts of the Plagued One:

"As all life is born to die, so all men are born to decay. There can be no succour in this world. As the centuries drag past our cultures will fade as our bodies waste. Father Nurlge is our sovereign and wether it be sooner or later, he will claim all in time."
_Liber Chaotica

Slanesh's Pleasures:

"Slaanesh created you an angel of delight.
You are perfect in your ways,
From the days that you were chosen
All wrong doing was found in you.
You are filled with lawlessness,
And you sin. "

The End of Time:

Advanced Engineering
"Keep yer fancy spells, Elf. I haven't the time. Can yer magic carve through mountains? Can it raise a fortress? Ah didn't think so."
Gotri Stonebeard, Dwarven Engineer

Civlopedia

Every race of the Warhammer world has devised it's own unique brand of technology. The Empire's greatest minds have hatched numerous war machines, from the awe-inspiring Steam Tank to the devastating Volleygun. Most of the other human empires do not have the resources or the desire to reproduce such marvels, but practices such as armor and weapon smithing, and the forging of new, stronger alloys have benefited from advances in technology. The devious race of Skaven rat-men have harnessed the perverse power of warpstone to create bizzare weapons of wicked cunning. their clan Skyre has produced the Doom Wheel, poison gas throwing Globadiers, and the massive rifles known as Jezzails. The technology of the Orcs, if it can be called such, is a hapless mashup of random parts, which, against all common sense, serves them well on the battlefield. The Elves have created graceful war machines, both wicked and pure, to battle their foes. But the race most well known for their engineering are the Dwarves. Dwarven architecture and craftsmanship is second to none. While most races sail the oceans in wooden ships, the Dwarves use steam-powered ironclads. Their cannons and gunpowder weapons are known for their quality and reliability. They have even conquered the skies with Gyrocopters and Airships.

thank llama. i was wondering, i saw in other civlopedia threads that there is a certain format for civlopedia entrys, using what im assuming is python or some other programming language. if you could explain this or link to a tutorial i could write my entries in that format so they could be directly copied and pasted, saving you (or whoever does the civlopedia) some time. thanks!

Chaos Incursion
"Do not hope. Do not beg. Do not bargain. Put out of your mind all thoughts of escape or reprieve. We will flood your fields with blood, and flies shall darken the sky. Great Tzeentch will descend upon you, and with his thousand mouths, he shall sing the song that ends the world."
Khzar the Corrupter, Chaos Lord

Mercenary Contracts
"I mean, yeah, the gold ain't so great, you gotta live with killing, you never know if your gonna see the next day, and you end up working for some of the most despicable people in the Empire. But, on the other hand...umm...hmm..."
Heinrich Muller, Mercenary

Polearms
"I've heard all the arguments for and and against. Most soldiers will tell you a sword and shield is the most trustworthy thing you can have on a battlefield. For me, its a pretty simple choice. When it comes down to it, I'm perfectly happy killing you ten feet away instead of two."
Heinrich Muller, Mercenary

Sanitation
"Forget Steam Tanks. Forget massive fortresses, huge armies, and powerful magic. As far as I'm concerned the greatest achievement of the Empire is the fact that i can walk down the streets of Altdorf without having to smell human waste."
Felix Jaeger, Adventurer

Tracking
"Hmm, thats strange...the tracks seem to turn around and head back towards us right here...Karl? Where'd you go? Oh...How are you, Mr. Troll? I'll just be going now...
Heinrich Muller, Mercenary

Mercenary Contracts Civlopedia
In the Warhammer world, human civilization is not only threatened by Orcs, Chaos, Skaven, and other monstrosities, but also by the everyday political maneuvering of the nobility. Squabbles over territory, succession, and resources frequently flare up into full fledged conflict. While most nobles are able to raise token militias from their local peasantry, they are ill-equipped and prone to low morale. Mercenaries make up the bulk of fighting forces. There are always plenty of opportunities for conflict in the Warhammer world, so any man who has seen at least some combat has the opportunity so earn some gold, if not much. These desperate men come from all corners of the world, and it is not uncommon to see Tileans fighting Kislevites in an Estalian border war!

Civlopedia for the Destruction religion
While most scholars would probably tell you the Orcs aren't intelligent enough to have a religion, they do in fact have a (very small) pantheon of Gods. Gork and Mork represent the twin aspects of being an Orc: savagery and devious cunning. Which god represents which aspect is a subject of much Orcish debate, if such a thing can be said to exist beyond the exchanging of injury. It is from these Gods that Goblin and Orcish shamans draw their magic, and their names are frequently invoked to raise that terrifying Orcish gathering known as the "Waaagh!"

PS i really think that only the Iron Claw Orcs, The Goblins tribe, The Ogres, and The Hobgoblins should be able to subscribe to this religion. I really cant see sigmarite priests debating the finer points of Gork and Mork. Perhaps make the Unique orcish technology a prerequisite for building the monument to destruction? maybe then you could rename Destruction: Gork and Mork?

Civilopedia entries are actuall just done in XML, its very simple as it is, just copying and pasting with a little title changing and stuff (each tech has a specific name in the code like:

<TEXT>
<Tag>TXT_KEY_TECH_ADVANCEDENGINEERING_PEDIA</Tag>
<Text> ... words... </TEXT>

where the words in bold arethe techs name, and the words between the two <TEXT> things is the actual civilopedia entry :p so its fairly simple

i agree that those civs should only have access to the Destruction shrine, but Ogres dont worship Gork and mork, and i dont think hob goblins do either, so thats the problem with renaming it gork and mork :p hopefully in the future we will be able to introduce religion cults etc, and diversify Destruction into spellarate sections with Gorkand Mork, THe Great Maw, and the Khan as sepparate cults with different benefits, but thats i nthe future ;)

exelent work on those quotes, and i really like tohe civilopedia entries too. ive added all your stuff to my first post :) keep em coming :D

Thanks for your kind words on me quotes. i was particularly proud of the chaos incursion one. and heinrich muller is actually a guy who ive written a few short stories about....

Where exactly is the file for the civlopedia and whats it called? cuz if its that simple, i could just put all the quotes weve done into the file itself and post an updated civlopedia...

your right about the ogres, but some hobgolbin tribes do worship gork and mork, or at least their own variations of them (Gark and Mark?). what do you mean by cults? whats the game mechanic behind that? im guessing its like a sub-religion, but ive never seen iot in any other mods...

This is how to add a civilopedia entry:

Spoiler :

the file is called "CIV4GameText_WarhammerInfos" and its located in Warhammer/Assets/XML/Text

(make a backup of the original file before you start work for when you make a mistake, its inevitable :p)

There will be entries that look like this :
<TEXT>
<Tag>TXT_KEY_TECH_DEFAULT</Tag>
<English>Never Happens</English>
<French>Never Happens</French>
<German>Never Happens</German>
<Italian>Never Happens</Italian>
<Spanish>Never Happens</Spanish>
<Russian>Never Happens</Russian>
<Japanese>Never Happens</Japanese>
<Chinese>Never Happens</Chinese>
</TEXT>
<TEXT>
<Tag>TXT_KEY_TECH_DEFAULT_PEDIA</Tag>
<English> blah blah blah</English>
<French>blah blah blah</French>
<German>blah blah blah</German>
<Italian>blah blah blah</Italian>
<Spanish>blah blah blah</Spanish>
<Russian>blah blah blah</Russian>
<Japanese>blah blah blah</Japanese>
<Chinese>blah blah blah</Chinese>

these are the ones you will want to use.

"TXT_KEY_TECH_techname", tell the game what the tech is called, ie, my example above is called "Never Happens"

"TXT_KEY_TECH_DEFAULT_techname", tells the game what should go in the Civilopedia.

where the TXT_KEY_TECH_techname_PEDIA string of text (the writing in between the <TEXT> and </TEXT> markers) isnt present, copy the TXT_KEY_TECH_techname", string, but add "_PEDIA" to the end.

now all you need to do is add in your Pedia entry text in the <English> insert pedia here</English> markers

Its the same for quotes ,but instead of adding _PEDIA at the end add _QUOTE instead. then inster your Quote.

if none of that made sense ill try explain better :p

Alchemy
The classical pursuit of Alchemy involved the process of transmuting metals, particularly that of lead into gold. In the Warhammer World, Alchemy has taken on the added meaning of any sorcery which incorporates transmutation or change. The mages of the Empire struggle to forge new magical alloys with the magical metal Gromril, while the mutative properties of dread Warpstone are harnessed by myriad races, notably the Skaven and the dark powers of Chaos. Even the Dwarven pursuit of gunpowder technology would not be possible without the magical concoctions of certain powerful wizards.

The Ancestor Gods:

A dwarf's ancestors are very important, not just to himself and his family but also the community. After all, where would the dwarven race be if their ancestors had played a less important role in past avents? Dwarves extend this philosophy of filial piety to their dealings with other races as well. It is not uncommon, for example, for the relationship between a dwarf and a human's great grandfather to color the dwarf's feelings toward the great grandson of that cherished friend (or hated foe!) A dwarf considers himself the sum of his experiences, and his ancestors play a large role in that equation.

Elven Gods:
The Elf psyche is represented by the Pantheon of Gods they Worship. Together the Gods provide a sense of balance but the Elven Deities, like their children, are far more complicated and indepth than their surface belies. Each deity represents the gamut of of different ideas they represent. For example, the Elven God of the Sea represents not only the bounties of the ocean and safe voyage but also the less benevolent aspects of the sea such as monsters and destruction. Perhaps the most tragic example is that of Khaine, the Elven War God. To High and Wood Elves he represents the Elven aspect of Martial Valor and Skill at Arms. However, to the Dark Elves Khaine embodies their blood lust and pitiless cruelty. Only the High Elves have truly struck a balance in the worship of their deities while the Dark and Wood Elves instead have focused their worship on those deities that they feel most accurately represent their respective natures.

I will research the names of the Dwarf and Elven deities (i think it is Mammon for the ocean god) I am also working on the other pedia entries for the other religions.

Eternal Life:

Of all the Races it is a sad fact that Mankind is the weakest of them all. Nothing proves this more than the Cult of Eternal life founded in the southern lands millennia ago. Some people are not content to accomplish all they can in one life and instead devise ways to steal more from others so that they can continue “living”. Eventually the drive for completing great works simply gives way to continuing their wretched existence by whatever means possible. Perhaps it is better this way for some of the more powerful devotees of this religion such as the Lahmians are content to “live” in decadent pleasure while others such as Nagash and Settra’s plans involve the conversion of all life in the world into a nightmarish mirror of their own dark and grave laden existence.
Far from a united religion, there are really two different schools of philosophy split along Vampires, Liches and Mummies. The Vampires envision a massive fiefdom in which they are the aristocracy holding the lives of millions in their cold grasp. These vampires include the seductive and decadent Lahmians, the martial and honorable Blood Dragon knights, the scheming and oppressive Sylvanians and the deformed but arcane Necarchs. While the vampires need the living to survive, they certainly do not care for their subjects. Powerful Liches such as Nagash and the Mummy Lords such as Settra instead have no real use for the living except to convert them into undead slaves, a world shadowed in the cold and darkness of the tomb.

Salvation:
While the weakest of Mankind have fallen to dark methods of worship and power, time and again the strongest of Mankind have risen to the challenge of saving the mortal races from themselves. The Pantheon of Empire deities include such worthies as Taal the God of Druids, Shallya the Goddess of Healing and Mercy, Ranald the benevolent trickster, and the Might Ulric Lord of Wolves, Winter and Martial Arts. Another popular deity is the Man God Sigmar, the savior and founder of the Empire. Other worthy deities of the Old World include Myrmidia the Godess of Justice worshipped in Estalia and the Lady of the Lake of Bretonnia and Solkan the God of Law, the patron deity of witch hunters and fanatical enemies of Chaos. While Salvation does not represent a pantheon all of these deities, instead it is a composite character of mankind, a symbol of the inherent goodness and honor that the mortal races are capable of.

Corruption:

Before the Elves and Dwarves learned how to write, the Million Gods of Chaos waited in the darkness of Warpspace. While the Old Ones slowly faded into extinction and the younger races matured, the Million Gods of Chaos whispered promises of power and prosperity. While the Elves and Dwarves warred the Million Gods of Chaos sank their talons into the hearts of many. When the Elves and Dwarves began their slow decline, their empires wrent by civil war and invasion the Million Gods of Chaos waited. When a struggling young race known as man began to leave their caves and open their eyes upon the world, the Chaos Gods rejoiced.

There is no more unpredictably malevolent force than Chaos. A highly mutable substance that defies normal definition, Chaos represents the raw power of change. A thousand minor godlings are birthed and die with every thought of every living being. From this seething mass of warpstuff however, the darker impulse of mortality have created and fashioned the Four Major Powers. Much like the Elven Pantheon each major power represents extremes, but it is very telling of humans that more often than not it is only the negative that is accentuated. Khorne, God of War (but more often of savage slaughter) represents not only unbridled blood lust, strength and merciless cruelty but also the honor of warriors, technology and brotherhood in arms. Tzeentch, the inscrutable plotter and Lord of Change is not only the master of mutation and cunning conspirators but also knowledge, magic and is the enemy of stagnation. Nurgle, the corpulent God of Decay and Disease not only manifests plague and corruption but also is the patron of Survival and the celebration of life. Slaanesh, the youngest of the major powers is not only the Prince of Perverse Pleasure and jaded decadence but also of sensuality, confidence and enjoyment. The followers of Chaos are as distinct and numerous as the Chaos Gods themselves. Even cerebral gods such as Tzeentch and Slaanesh attracted followers among the Beastmen and Chaos Marauders of the world.
This diversity of worship is one thing that makes Corruption dangerous, it can be very hard to discern who and who is not actually a worshipper of chaos.
Whatever else these Powers represent, together as Chaos undivided or separately, one thing is obvious…they are the harbingers of mortal doom.

Err no. I don't think quotes from real life will add much warhammerflavor, no nukes, no dollar.;) It will definitly have to be Warhammerspecific if it's supposed to get into the mod(or at least some generic fantasy/medieval flavor that doesn't indicate another specific fantasy background).

Nothing wrong with inventing your own quotes either like

"Much like any religion, the merchants have organized themselves into guilds recruiting converts with the lure of money and political power, spreading throughout the Old World along with the corruption and wretchedness that this entails."

-Lady Estanzia Ferdinand, Prioress of Myrmidia the Goddess of Justice and Truth
