WTH! Is civ (any of them) compatible with Windows 7???

I recently upgraded from Windows XP to 7 and as far as making it work using Windows 7 has been like my last Ex-wife to get along with. First it would run, but the action would be jerky, and it performed really badly. I tried to look for patches, check all of my drivers to see if they were up to date. Checked with 2K, Microsoft, and looked around a couple of boards with no luck. I am the only one with this apparent problem. I don't understand I have 2.84G on the processor, 3G ram, and I just cant figure out what the deal is.

THIS JUST IN--I tried to uninstall the game and all it is saying that some file cannot me found, or I am not the adminstrator or some such crap!!

I am on the outskirts of just being pissed off right about now...

short answer is: Civ4 is compatible with windows 7
long answer depends on more information: what version of civ are you using? how did you install it? did you install it with administrator rights? what patches have you applied? is this 32 or 64 bit?
also please post your dxdiag results file.
