Huh?

Wu Zetian must have unlocked a secret technology to build 2 wonders at the same time in one city...

Either that or maybe she was building the Hanging Gardens, got it down to 1 turns or so. Switched to Chichen Itza the moment she acquired Civil Service, completed it. Then went back and completed the HG?

That's really the only explanation I can think of, and it kinda makes sense since the AI loves the Chichen Itza wonder...

Still, that was really irritating since I was like 2 turns off for the Hanging Gardens. I didn't beeline the wonder or prioritize it though.

Anyone else experience something like this?

I had Catherine complete Chichen Itza and Alhambra within a couple of turns of each other, which drove me berserk. That's the point when I realised that the AI uses Great Engineers too. I don't know why I didn't figure that before.

A game I recently won, Rome had 3 cities and managed to bag over 22 wonders. I had 5 cities, most with pretty solid production but was beaten by a couple of turns so many times.

Weirdly on that game none of the AI built the pyramids, I prioritised something else so never started it as I assumed one of the AIs would be building it but it never happened. Built it late in 6 turns...never seen that before.

It happened the same to me today. It was Renaissance and nobody had constructed the Pyramids. I finished it in 5 turns. It was weird (and almost unnecesary. By that point, I had too many workers and had to eliminate the new ones because of the maintenance).

Pyramids require liberty, perhaps nobody picked liberty other than you. Now there are more policy trees unlocking in ancient & classical eras so that might explain it a bit.

This is often the case now . a lot of civs tend to choose Tradition or piety as their default opening . So pyramids never show up till turn 200 or other odd stuff ..

Quiet typically I see Leaning Tower of Pisa (free great person , then next turn Globe Theatre)
