Brigade stats are fine on defence, and rather low on offence. 1/12 is perhaps too drastic a mix; I'd go for something where they actually have a chance. The reduced hit points method is quite fine for brigades.
I thought the garrisons might fill that role. In such a case, a Home Guard or AA Command unit may come in handy.
Special Fortress could be renamed to more appropriate 'Fortress Brigade' title.
The RAF naming is great; as I said, it may be a thought to simplify it to Fighter and Bomber Squadrons given that many are upgradable.
A version after the Fall of France has potential, as it allows the Vichy/FF split, but I think this one is a mighty good platform for further development and work - it can get quite good. Very, very good.
Whilst graphical updates are presumably beyond the scope of this mod, there is still a lot that can be refined:
- The orders of battle can be improved for the RM, MN, USN, IJN and RN and specified.
- Methods of enhancing the Atlantic can be explored.
- The map has a lot of room to play with
- Further units can be added
- Unit strengths can be balanced to a greater level; take a look at the battleship numbers, and have a chuckle at certain Teutonic thought.
- Italy and Japan can be explored
- More use of autoproducers. Now that the c.2004/5 method of using dummy wonders is not as completely necessary, plenty of building slots are open.
- Tinkering with the victory conditions
- Exploring potential use of terrain to channel forces; I'm thinking here of the 'fleet in being' idea.
- Explore the notion of using the 'vassalage' idea from the Medieval Europe Mod
- Implement ideas from SoE and TCW2.0 in a global WW2 context.
All this can prove to be of use for future refinements of this, and dare I say it, other mods that may be related.
It is up to you, but this well is far from dry. It would be interesting to hear from others, but I believe that only the surface of a Fall Gelb potential has been scratched.
