WW2 Unit Graphics

Yeah I can do that. This time I think I've got every possibility covered. Except the lasers and pink torpedo... :smug:

Hi Fairline,

I sent you an email earlier this week on your google account. Did you have a chance to look at it? I was asking for your permission to share a little graphics pack.

If you'd rather not, let me know.

Hi all,

Like most of us, whenever I wanted to create a World War II scenario I would have to go through a whole series of scenarios and graphics files to find the units I was looking for.

As such, a few weeks back, I decided to gather all the latest and greatest creations of Fairline’s work (along with a few extra contributions by Captain Nemo, Tanelorn and Curt) and create a graphics pack which included all the major, and many minor powers, of that conflict.

Afterwards, I forwarded the pack to Fairline. At best, I was simply hoping to get his approval to post his collection to the community.

Instead, in his typical gracious fashion, he not only accepted to review the collection but bring some major changes and improvements to it, including:
  • Updating the graphics of many of the units,
  • Correctly labelling the units for ease of identification,
  • Whenever required, regrouping units within the grid by their more logical classifications
  • And finally, by adding many previously unpublished works from his collection
At this time, he’s completed the review of the sheets for the following powers, which are attached to this thread (see “Fairline WWII Commonwealth Russians French.zip”):
  • Commonwealth
  • Russians and French
Over the following weeks (this requires a lot dedication and time on his part), I will post the sheets for the following other powers as he makes them available (in no specific order):
  • Americans
  • Germans
  • Japanese and Italians
  • Chinese and Minor Powers
  • Naval Units
Once all the sheets are completed, we will group them into one collection and upload them to the CivFanatics download section for ease of access.

For my part, I can’t thank him enough for his amazing collection, patience with my many requests and efforts in bringing this all together. In my very humble opinion, I believe this should become the definitive WWII collection for many years to come.

Awesome. I can give EotRS a good graphics upgrade before a formal finished new version is finally tackled.

I have made several compilations in the past for my own use, but nothing as comprehensive as this. What sounds like a simple task is, in fact, a major undertaking. Thank you so much for this guys. This will come in so handy.

The Empire & Commonwealth Forces collection is absolutely amazing. Just out of curiosity were there ever any RN or RAF Civ2 units made in their traditional uniforms in a ground defense role?

This brings me back... I remember going through the old units files that Harlan (?) put together. There's something about seeing all of these in one place that just sparks th imagination. Thank you both very much!

Hi all,

Thanks for the comments, they are appreciated but of course all the credit truly belongs to Fairline as it is his work after all.

If their not in the collection probably not but only Fairline can say for sure.

@ BC1871 Not aware of any units. The closest I've drawn is RM in standard and jungle BD.

Thanks again to Tootall for organising these compilations :goodjob:

Any chance of you drawing up a few? I know there are no projects slated to use those units, but it would round out the collection quite well.

@BC1871 I'm pretty busy re-drawing and organising these compilation sheets so I don't really have time for those. Maybe when these compilations are completed. :)

Timoleon, I'd like to include your Italian, Greek and other WW2 units in these compilation sheets we're putting together. First off, is this OK with you and, if so, would you mind putting your latest versions of your WW2 units in a rar if that's not too much trouble? I'm sure I probably have them on my HD but there are multiple versions and I'd like to choose your preferred final versions. Thanks :)

Hi all,

Fairline completed the review of the Americans and as such you can grab the attached zip file in this thread.

In addition, he's made further modifications and added a few extra units to the CW, Russian/French sheets which you can also grab in this thread.

Hope you enjoy!
