WWI Infantry Units Needed

For italian you can use the italian infantry unit on Extra pack for WWII. Actually it is an alpine troop used on WWI on east front (Carso, mount Grappa and Piave) against Austo-Ungarian troops.

Hmm- I have to say I didn't really like that unit - I had preferred it if they'd made a more generic approach to the Italian Rifleman - after all just prior to WWII the Italian army didn't have the resources to equip its troops with one single model of helmets- but for PC games a clearly identifiable unit is a must (of course I doubt that too many people would know what the Italians looked like in WWII, as it's always the nasty Germans in the movies ;))

On WW2 I think that would be more appropriated a colonial uniform... Alpine troops were used on ARMIR, as help to the Barbarossa operation.

Italian WWI

This site is in Spanish but its the pics that R important- turns out the Italians looks just like the French- with a grey-ish uniform pattern, and without the overcoat.

Italian WWII

Here (still in Spanish) you can see the difficulty that especially the Italian uniform brings with itself- the used the French M15 until 1945, then in 1933 introduced their own helmet, yet didnt have enough of them- so some units remained with a british WWI Helmet- then, when Italy surrendered to the Allies the anti-fascists wore a WWII Brit. Helmet

May I make a suggestion?

If you want to make a WWI Irish infantry best use the Sniper Unit (I can send it to U) it was an old conversion of the Infantry (made by ?) to a dark green colour. Then add a German WWI helmet of the grenadier unit (by nonnob) and change its pallete colours to a more greenish tone: Ready- a WWI Irish Citizen Army Unit.

btw.

is this unit's colours still too bright ??

Sounds good Winter.. send me the unit please.

The Belgian infantry looks good, perhaps you should try to make it sharper.. it could look much better if there were shadows rather than his entire leg being the same color. It's hard.. I know. It's fine the way it is.. I'm just telling you how you can make it superb.

I was working on a desert tone conversion of the Firaxis German Infantry but I gave up because it takes forever, if you want that I'll send it to you. A few of the default flics are complete.. other than that you have to do a lot of work.

Here U go: Sniper (by Monster Man)- hmm I just looked at it and realised the pallete changes have been done a bit - well poorly, but it should be easy to make small brightness adjustment in PSP by clicking on the dark dots on the unit, opening the pallete and using the slider (well, it was one of the very first custom units out there- even b4 Nonnob made his first Grenadier unit)

BTW, when are you going to complete your Condor Legion infantry unit?

Awww- hmmm- well I guess this is just like when U want to fix your daughter's teddy- with one arm, one leg and the head gone off... the unit is actually there, but I haven't put it back together since the tragic events that tore it apart- and killed its big bother, the Spanish Nationalist Legion  "when U least expect it " probably says it all

This now is the PTW extra pack Italian Rifleman in a (almost un-noticeble) lighter shade of grey, with new, higher leather bootstraps and the French designed M°15 "Adrian" Helmet

Any ideas and/or comments (especially Rufus :))?

I think this unit could be used quite well as a base for Japanese/Chinese Infantry :)
