I was sitting around looking for something to do, as I had beaten all of my games and I decided to try out Civilization II's WWII scenario. I chose the Axis as they are unstoppable and located in the most strategic location. I attacked France and Amsterdam in a few turns and then, I called my paratroopers to North France and I took out London. Then I paradropped. Soon I had a few British units and my planes went into Britain to take out the enemy in Britain. In just about no time, I won and then I conquered all of Europe except for Russia and set up Tangiers to be mine. I decided to go into Turkey and I easily took them out. I won many battles and advanced to the edge of Damascus and stopped. As always, I am unstoppable and I have this beat as I am terrorising the cities of Washington and New York. I may be American but I am not stupid and I will not let my feelings control who I take out. I'm challenging all of you to repeat this.

I played the same scenario as the Allies, after 6 years of bitter fighting I finally annhialated the Axis power (by the end of the scenario, but I kept playing). To deal with the Nazis I had Washington and New York build fighters and bombers while the British cities build armor and battleships. I launched an invasion, capturing the port of Kiel allowing easy reinforcements from London(only 5 squares away). I pushed South and captured Berlin, Cologne, Dresden and Paris. However success was short lived and the Germans fought back driving me North leaving only the well-defended port of Kiel in Allied hands. So I rush bought many units, including the new Howitzer, and eventually annhialated the Germans invading Italy from North Africa as well as from the North . My forces then turned on the French, who were promtly destroyed, along with the Turks and Neutral (destroyed mainly by the Russians but not without some help from me) .The Spanish were destroyed in under one turn with the remainder of my forces being moved to Warsaw(in preparation for the Russian invasion). But by then the scenario had finished but I continued playing anyway. So I had all of Western Europe, North Africa, the Balkans and Turkey, and Scandinavia in my power and so in approx. 1950 I launched a huge invasion of Russia, so as to bring all of Europe under my control, initially with great success, with the Russian forces being annhialated by my 80 or so howitzers. I pushed farther and farther East . I took the Northern cities (Leningrad, Riga, Helsinki, Minsk, Smolensk etc.) and started invading South however the Russians were still capable of recapturing captured cities, with bombers destroying my howitzers, which made up the majority of my forces. Many cities were retaken by the Russians after I had captured them, I also was unable to retake the cities in Turkey, such as Ankara, or Izmir. Eventually I used my huge funds to build many more howitzers, Mech Infs etc. and launch a fresh invasion East , focused on destroying the huge Russian cities of Stalingrad, Maikop, Kuibyshev and Kazan in the hope of toppling the Russian government and annhialating the bomber force, this was a failure, with only one Russian city (Rostov) being taken and hardly and Russian Bombers destroyed.

I see that we have a classic grudge match. Perhaps an online challenge to see which of the two of you is the better ruler.

I've played the WWII scenario several times, trying different Civs.

My best success ever was as the Nazis. I over-ran France, bought transports in Cherbourg and Amsterdam, and launched a massive invasion of the British Isles. I sent Paratroopers and all my bombers over the North Atlantic Air Bridge, at the same time sending a fleet, and conquered Washington and NY very quickly.

Meanwhile the Russians attacked in the east, my tanks drove them back. I launched my real offensive once my bombers returned from North America, taking out virtually all of Russia before the scenario time expired, as well as making gains in the Middle East against the British. (I ignored the Turks and Spanish, since the Turks refused all bribe offers to help me against the Russians.)

The key is to attack America first. If you go after Russia first, it takes too long to redeploy your bombers against anyone else.

The other thing I like is giving the Turks offshore platforms and (slightly improved) Fanatics... that can be fun. The problem I ran into is once I took over Spain and invaded France, the Allies and the Axis launched a combined nuclear sneak-attack on me. I'd been fighting against Russia (and slowly winning) but I stood no chance of advancing further in the teeth of Allied and Axis opposition. I was driven out of France, I'm pretty proud I managed to hang onto Spain and also defend Turkey and Sevastopol against Soviet/Axis attacks.

My best success was with the Allies, using the EXACT same strategy as actually was used. Although I had a high casualty rate I was able annihalate the Axis, albeit slightly slower than reality, because they frequently recaptured cities with BlitzKreig tactics.
