Just wondering if anyone here has played WWII Online. I've played quite a bit, but its been a year and a half and I was wondering how any of the updates have improved the game.

Appreciate any info. Thanks.

I don't play it, but I have a friend that worships the game, he said it's so improved over what was originally released that it's hard to believe it's the same game... The rerelease is coming soon, I might try it out then...

I tried it a few months after its first release and it just stank. I thought it was going to be a fully recreated world with the entire planet as a battlefield (I wanted to play the Battle for Hong Kong so bad) but instead it was just the BeNeLux countries and parts of France. And I REALLY hated the fact that I needed a joystick to fly or drive simply because I don't like joysticks and that I'd have to fork over money to buy something that I'd only use on WW2 Online. I'm wondering can you fly and drive with the mouse and/or keyboard now? 'cause that would be a MASSIVE improvement in my book.

I read it was craptastic unplayable mess unless you lived under 5km from where the server is located.

Those that play worship it -- that's about all I know. I've been threatening to join this game for quite awhile. I've yet to bite the bullet (so to speak).

I worshipped it, but didn't have a pc for an ungodly period of time. Actually, at the time when I stopped playing, they were making good improvements almost weekly. I'll be in a position to start playing again in about a week and its the first thing I'm getting.

Its a lot of fun because - although at the time it was only the benelux countries, western germany and eastern france....and england at times saw some action if the axis side was doing well - its is still a very large playing world. No matter where the front lines were, there were always a number of cities where you could go and fight. You can fight as infantry, armor or air....even navy, although that needed some inprovement at the time. Just a lot of fun to take a tank and go out cruising for someone/something to kill.

If you play, I suggest joining a squad. You get to work at an objective as part of a team, take part in coordinated attacks....or defenses.....whatever your side needs. But you still have the freedom to just go out on your own. Pick a roof top and be a sniper, take a plane and go looking for dog fights or tanks...or larger bombers with other people and do some real damage.

Man, pumping myself up....can't wait.

its a great game and the lag isn't bad all. I just built a brand new computer (amd 64 3500+ venice, 1 gig corsair xms, 256 sapphire x800 xl) and i can't wait to start up my subscription again and try out the game. Because before i was playing on a p4 2.8, 512mb ram and a 64mb geforce 4200. So i should see a pretty big difference.

The thing you need to do to have fun in the game is join a battle group, and fight along side others.

With newest version there are people complaining of lag, even with middle-high end systems, but you should be ok with that. Unfortunately I'm playing on someone else's pc which is low-mid end and I can only play as inf...and even then lag can get bad at times.

Can't wait to hook up a dope system of my own....2-3 weeks.

I beta-tested it, back then it was a pretty bad game but they've had 3 years to fix it so it should be pretty good by now, right?

Man if I want some WWII action I'll just get Battlefield 1942!
