[WWIII] Another Idea

Well, I've (for whatever reason) been thinking about the world today, and how pissy it's becoming. The odds of a major conflict on the horizon are, IMO, becoming ever larger. Thus, I have devised a way for this community to be all cool and predict wars (and maybe get kidnapped by the NSA). Since I have limited modding experience (max: changing unit stats, adding new civilizations, making...one ongoing scenario), I appeal to the community on this.

This will be set sometime in the near future, probably in the 2030s, '40s, or '50s. Based on current trends and limited optimism, I predict a few new things to occur, like a stronger European Union, African Union, and Gulf Cooperation Council.

The Scenario will begin in the Middle East:

It is the year 2036. The newly formed Islamic Republic of Iraq, stabilized after a half-decade of civil war and nearly two decades of foreign occupation, has recently elected a controversial new Prime Minister. This PM has begun to nationalize the Iraqi oil industry, forcing new instability into the already floundering oil markets. While most of the world has turned to alternative fuels for power, the energy-hungry nations of Russia, India, and China still open their wallets for oil. Sensing a weakness in international support for the new republic, the Islamic Republic of Iran began a buildup of its armed forces on the shared border. Reports of Russian involvement have already surfaced. The Gulf Community Council threatened sanctions against Iran if it did not cease its buildup, and appealed to the United Nations Security Council. Though Iran abandoned its nuclear program in the early 2010s, there are still fears that it has secretly built a nuclear weapon and tested it in the many mountains that form the nation. Finally, tensions broke out in the region when a group of terrorists apparently funded by the Iranian regime set off dirty bombs in two major Saudi oilfields. As a result, the Gulf Cooperation Council declared war on the Islamic Republic of Iran. Seeing its chances, Iran quickly unleashed a blitzkrieg the likes of which had not occurred since WWII. The island nation of Bahrain was taken, and Iraq was overrun in a matter of days. The northern regions of Iran and Iraq, sensing an opportunity, revolted to form the new nation of Kurdistan. Turkey, still in application to the European Union, quickly declared war on the new nation. Flushed with the success of their Shi'a brothers, Hezbollah, controlling the tiny nation of Lebanon, began an offensive against the state of Israel.

Player! It is time for you to choose sides. With the whole Middle East embroiled in conflict, you must quickly end this war..or risk global catastrophe at the hands of a few select terrorists.

So by the end of this lengthy backstory, we have two major conflicts:

Iran (controlling Iraq, Bahrain)/Hezbollah v GCC/Israel (though they hate each other), and
Turkey/Iran v Kurdistan

I'll post more later. Eventually, I see three major areas of conflict: East Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East (whew! lot's of easts there).
