Wyrmshadow's Battleships

I'm anxious to see what designs you come up.

I agree its far from conclusive. Currently, Aegis Cruisers make up the bulk of the Navy's non-carrier forces to my knowledge. A Rail-Gun armed ship would most likely replace the Aegis as the Navy's default Cruiser, rather than ressurect the Battleship Class.

I read in Pop Sci a few months back about some Giuy in the Navy's Idea to have a destoryer that launched a soild projectile at hypersonic speeds into space to destroy targets froma long range.... In the next month though there were several angry letters to the editor as to why that wouldn't work.

If these weapons are introduced all warships on this planet will be obsolete. When the HMS Dreadnought was introduced it was not only a ship for strengenth the RN but allowed the German Hochseeflotte to cope with the British. Indeed the RN was weakened. Nevertheless the US can not stop the evolution but make it slowlier.

If a Rail gun ship was to be built the Navy would wait until they had more then a few of these ships before revealing them to the world. BTW the Battleship is a type of ship not a class.

Colorado class battleship. This Super-dreadnought class was completed too late to see combat in WW1. Top is USS Maryland as she would have been @ Pearl Harbor. Bottom is the extensively rebuilt W.Virginia circa 1944.

Those with a sharp eye will notice that I am using the super-structure from VinegarJoe's South Dakota.

Sorry, not overly familiar with Naval terminology...but you do have a point, a fleet of those would come as quite a surprise to any country that supports the terrorists and their lies....

Thought I'd make a nice little layout of my US BB's. Left Column is pre-ww2 version and right column is WW2 upgrade and paint. Notice the empty spaces.
