Ovi mentioned playing X-COM again in the "Games you are embarrassed..." thread. Besides that I think noone should be embarrassed about those great games I wanted to ask if someone could tell me how to get them to run on my computer (Athlon 700).
They simply run far too fast, and the slowdown programs I tried froze them.
Any idea?

man i'm not sure if you can run UFO or Terror on new computers. I bought my top of the line computer back in september, and i had to go through alot just to get X-Com Apocalypse(one of the best games ever!) to work. I got it to work, but the mouse moved really slow. Overall it just doesn't run right like on Win95.

Yeah, the speed thing can't really be helped with those games if you run them on XP, I'm sure its been said before that XP just hates old games... If you have an older computer I'd just use that one. And SunTzu, how'd you get Apocalypse to work? I've tried and tried to no avail... If you could tell me I'd be quite appreciative.

I never managed to get the original ones playing again, but there's a collectors edition that runs (more or less). And I've heard there's a patch somewhere that gets the old ones to run (I'm not sure wether it's legal though)

I have UFO3 completely worked in my Athlon1700+ with WinXP and WinME.

UFO1-2 are too damn fast in my computer; slowing programs don't help... But if you really want the "slower" program I can ask people on the our russian forums... I know that UFO1-2 are favorite games of many people. :)
